Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy has worked for over 35 years to bring Brooklyn Bridge Park to life. Through a yearly line-up of hundreds of free and low-cost cultural, recreational, and educational events, our programs help the Park reach its full potential as a dynamic and vibrant public space for all. Since 2000, over 1.8 million visitors have enjoyed the Conservancy’s free, public programs in Brooklyn Bridge Park.

The Philanthropy team is seeking a Membership and Events Associate who reports to the Director of Philanthropy and works closely with the entire Philanthropy team. As part of the team, this position plays a critical role in advancing the fundraising program and will be responsible for managing the membership program for donors from $1-2,499.

Leading event logistics and program activations, this position will be required to be in the Park for all fundraising and stewardship events, as well as during programmatic events where there are sponsors. This position will work closely with the team to curate lists for events, create engagement opportunities throughout the year, steward current members to higher-level gifts, identify new prospects, and take the lead on acquisition and sourcing of any membership promotions/gifts (e.g. tee shirt, tote bag, etc).

In addition, we at the Conservancy care deeply about the health and safety of our staff, all of whom follow very strict COVID-19 related protocols. We expect any new hire to follow them as well.

Key Responsibilities, Membership:

o  Write copy for individual and membership solicitations, including letters, email, and event invitations

o   Lead the Conservancy’s membership and annual fund programs and benefits, with potential help from outside consultants

o  Create new stewardship opportunities, including the re-imagining of the Conservancy’s former Family Committee

o  Coordinate membership mailings, collaborating with the Philanthropy Operations Manager

o  Oversee logistics, planning, and production of any member only events

Key responsibilities, Events:

o  Oversee logistics, planning, and production of high-level annual fundraisers (including Women’s Luncheon, Sunset and annual Gala) as well as stewardship/cultivation dinners with major gift donors and prospects. 

o  Oversee communications timeline and deliverables for all events, collaborating with the Communications Manager and graphic designers.

o  Leads the negotiation of vendor and service contracts, developing and implementing project management timelines, navigating conversations with event speakers/talent and donors

o  In partnership with programming colleagues, manage sponsor and membership activations at programmatic events like Movies With A View, Waterfront Workouts, Harvest Festival, etc.

o  Manages the event related content on the website, work with Communications Manager to ensure all social media is correct and liaise with PR consultant on bigger events

o  Directs all official communication with staff, consultants, volunteers, and vendors

o  Directs all operations on event day

o  Sets up and supervises check-ins at events

o  Sends and tracks invoices for tickets and tables

o   Creates a plan to ensure all attendees and invitees are followed-up with appropriately

Required Qualifications:

o   Bachelor’s degree required.

o  Excellent communication and writing skills.

o  Exceptional editing and proofreading, with unwavering attention to detail.

o  Ability to interface with individuals at every level of an organization, both internally and externally.

o  Exceptional time management and organizational skills, strong work ethic, excellent judgment, and discretion.

o  Ability to adapt quickly to, plan for, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.

o  Accepts feedback, takes ownership of work, enthusiasm for innovation.

o  Expertise in Microsoft Office, Google suite, Adobe programs, Keynote, and experience with Raisers Edge.

o  Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for fundraising events

Benefits

This is a full-time, 40 hour per week, non-exempt salaried position. Starting salary is $55,000 annually, plus paid OT. Competitive benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401k and several voluntary pre-tax programs, as well as generous paid time off.
