Asian Immigrant Women Advocates (www.aiwa.org) is an organization that is committed to developing the individual and collective leadership of limited English-speaking, low-income, immigrant and refugee women and youth so they can demand fair and just living and working conditions.

AIWA seeks a Program Manager who will have strategic and operational responsibility for AIWA's programs and execution of its mission. Specifically, the Program Manager will coordinate with key organizers and core committees of immigrant women and youth to oversee program and administrative aspects of the organization.

This position is ideally suited for someone with excellent supervision, coordination and communication skills who finds joy and pride in supporting immigrant women and youth to develop and demonstrate their leadership in the community.

Core Job Responsibilities:

Program Oversight: Work directly with immigrant leaders to oversee and evaluate programs. Strategically seek out opportunities internally and externally for immigrant women workers and youth to develop and exercise leadership and civic engagement.

Communications: Oversee AIWA communications from online presence to external relations. Identify social media and public relations opportunities to increase organizational visibility and financial support.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people, especially monolingual and limited English speaking immigrants and refugees
  • Understanding and knowledge of issues affecting limited English-speaking immigrant and refugee women, youth and low-wage workers
  • At least 3 years community organizing and program oversight experience
  • Ability to use data-driven evaluations to ensure AIWA maintains its commitment to quality programs
  • Strong communication, supervision and coordination skills

Level of Language Proficiency

As a multilingual organization, bilingual/ bi-cultural fluency in an Asian language/ culture is desirable. Our current base is Cantonese, Toishan, Mandarin and Nepali speaking and we have an organizational history of working with limited English-speaking Filipina, Korean and Vietnamese immigrant women.
