GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Lead the initiation, planning and implementation of statewide fundraising initiatives, personally conducting a development program in the southern region including special event, annual, corporate and major donor fundraising campaigns. Primary emphasis is on the Golf Outing for Kids and Annual Campaign, involving major individual and corporate relationships. Building and renewing corporate, volunteer and individual donors are critical functions. Coordinate the annual planned giving campaign. Maintain high level of independence in accomplishing these responsibilities, with goals, priorities and major projects reviewed regularly with President/CEO.

 

1. Initiate, develop, plan and execute special events within southern Wisconsin, including, but not limited to:

a. Signature event, Golf Outing for Kids

  • Identify potential sponsors and appropriate targets for funding; conduct corporate and team recruitment
  • Work with volunteer committee to develop and implement event action plan
  • Manage all event details including participant cultivation, retention and recruitment efforts, day of event logistics, etc.

b. Celebrity Basketball Challenge & Skills Academy

  • Identify potential sponsors and appropriate targets for funding
  • Work with volunteer committee to develop and implement event action plan
  • Manage all event details including celebrity recruitment, cultivation, retention and recruitment efforts, day of event logistics, etc.

c. Other community special events, e.g. Blizzard Blast. Initiate and develop new events,

including corporate and third party events.

 

2. Develop and implement annual fund raising campaign.

  • Recruit and manage high level volunteer fundraisers and Annual Campaign committee leaders
  • Recruit corporate sponsorship support
  • Conduct Starry Night campaign event to inform and motivate volunteers and potential donors in Southern Wisconsin

 

3. Functioning as a consultant, ensure that all special events and annual campaign activities statewide deliver consistent messaging and are successful in meeting their objectives. Consult with Development colleagues on similar events and activities to share best practices and new ideas.

 

4. Lead Development team meetings to establish fundraising priorities and strategic Development plan, and to identify planned, regular, documented steps to draw donors closer to the organization. Work with applicable staff to develop an annual written Development plan, including donor acquisition, cultivation and stewardship for the entire state, inclusive of high donors and mail donors.

 

5. Cultivate individual and corporate contacts, including national corporate sponsors, with other staff as appropriate, to develop commitment to the organization and support for event and campaign fundraising.

 

6. Develop, expand and maintain a working network of high level volunteers.

 

7. Maintain and monitor reports and records of income and expenses; assist President/CEO with budget creation for development department and implement activities staying within budget guidelines.

 

8. Develop and maintain donor stewardship plan. Oversee the gift processing system with primary responsibility for assuring donor database entry is maintained accurately and is up-to-date.

 

9. Take the lead on working with Director of Marketing, to design an annual, practical social media strategy, including creation and development of an online donation program, with fundraising as the primary goal.

 

10. Update and manage Giving and Event content for Development website, in a timely manner.

 

11. Submit regular monthly reports to the President/CEO on progress toward budgeted goals, including donations received.

 

12. Serve as primary liaison (with assistance from Director of Grants Management) to the Development Committee of the Board.

 

13. Perform other duties as may from time to time be assigned by President/CEO.
