The Zimmer Children’s Museum seeks a high-energy and dynamic individual with excellent interpersonal, classroom management and presentation skills, and a genuine interest in working with young children. The role of the School & Group Program Coordinator is to provide a rich, well-rounded, and memorable play and learning experience for all school and group guests, including students, teachers, and adult chaperones.
·Coordinate, schedule, and facilitate school and group programs and visits including field trip, enrichment experiences, Open Door Day, and general group visits.
·Assist with school and group program budget planning, program policies, standard operating procedures for visits
·Facilitate enrichment experiences and maintain inventory and replenish activities materials weekly
·Schedule and staff field trip facilitators on a weekly basis
·Engage with students, teachers, and adults in exploration of museum exhibits and with helping to restore props
·Clearly communicate and build rapport with teachers and chaperones during visits
·Assist with setting up and resetting rooms for field trips, group visits, and general program uses
·Ensure the safety of all guests, and follow museum safety and emergency protocol as needed
·Maintain clear communication with Visitor Services Team (including Front Desk and Floor Staff) throughout group visit to ensure the harmonious play experience of general museum guests and school groups
·Research and develop, in conjunction with Education Team, activities and curricula for enrichment experiences that are developmentally appropriate and in alignment with educational (Common Core) standards
·Outreach & develop community relations with schools and groups in the Greater Los Angeles Area
·Support all other museum programs, including materials prep and facilitation for off-site festivals and promotional events, free public programs, classes and camps, may be available depending on skill, experience and availability
Must be at least 18 years or older. Must pass background check.
Additional requirements needed to perform the duties of this job include the ability to walk, stand, kneel, balance, crouch, crawl, sit, run, talk and hear, and ability to lift and/or move objects up to 20 lbs.
