General Summary: Provides support to the campus master planning efforts including: participating in campus planning meetings, developing and providing exhibits as needed, and participating in the thought process of campus needs. Plans, executes, and finalizes capital projects as assigned according to strict deadline and budget parameters. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. Manages approximately eleven capital projects a year totaling roughly $1 million in budget. When assigned, acts a liaison between architects, contractors, and university staff during construction projects.

 

Job Description:


Supports Facility Management activity

  • Prepares designs and working drawings for selected capital projects.
  • Liaisons with city government for permits and interpretation of building codes relating to capital projects.
  • Assists and prepares specifications and related bid documents for upcoming capital projects.
  • Prepares estimates of probable constructions costs for selected capital projects.
  • Tracks and follows through on project status, including completion of required reports.
  • Prepares estimates of probable construction costs for selected capital projects.
  • Develops project schedules for selected capital projects.
  • Works with and reviews services provided by professional consultants, architects, and designers on selected projects.
  • Serves as team leader on assigned capital projects.
  • Assists the Assistant V.P. of Facility Management as directed.


Supports campus master planning activities

  • Develops conceptual design alternatives and visual representations.
  • Works with and reviews the services of architects, engineers and other professional consultants participating in campus master planning activities.
  • Obtains interpretation and clarification of land use and building codes affecting master campus planning.
  • Develops project schedules for campus master planning activities.
  • Serves as institutional representative at selected meetings and for specific master planning tasks.
  • Prepares long range cost estimates for campus master planning alternatives.
  • Assists, prepares, and submits to the City the documents required to obtain approval of a campus master plan.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, planning, or related field.
  • At least five years of experience in a progressively responsible position in a related field.
  • Experience in print reading and computer-aided design.
  • Knowledge of construction specifications, standards, city and state regulatory requirements, and uniform building codes. 
  • Valid Washington state driver's license.
  • Ability to load and unload materials.
  • Ability to access areas of campus any hour of day or night under emergency situations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, and MS Project.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD release 10 or newer.

 

Additional Information:

  • Position will remain open until filled.
  • Salary range $77,000-$84,000 annually, DOE.
  • This position is a full-time, exempt position wit full benefits. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision, paid for by the University for the employee. The package aslo includes University contributions to a retirement plan and a tuition benefit program.
