Early Childhood Educational Director

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Educational Director is responsible for working with the Executive Director to communicate the mission and educational philosophy of Hanson Place Child development Center (HPCDC). Carrying out policies, procedures and philosophy of HPCDC, this position is responsible for supervising teachers, assisting in hiring of new staff, coaching of staff, and developing age -appropriate curricula for optimum development of children. Reports to the Executive Director.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assumes Center responsibilities in the absence of Executive Director.
• Ensures full enrollment at Center.
• Supervises a team of early childhood educators to create an environment designed to meet the children's emotional, social, physical, intellectual, cultural and development needs.
• Assesses training needs of staff and provides materials and training situations on all facets of classroom competencies.
• Participates in professional organizations and in training programs.
• Attends workshops and conferences as offered or available.
• Coaches and encourages staff to work towards obtaining credentials.
• Assists in the hiring process of all education staff staff and other staff as needed.
• Works with Executive Director to assess and evaluate the program on an ongoing and annual basis.
• Provides workshops on child development topics to parents and other stakeholders.
• Makes presentation on curriculum to Board of Directors and other stakeholders
• Keeps abreast of issues in the Early childhood field and serve as a resource to staff and parents.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Baccalaureate degree in early childhood education or a related field of study approved by the state
• Master's preferred
• At least two years of documented experience as a group teacher in a program for children under six years of age
• Valid NYS permanent certification issued by the State Education Department
• Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience
• Excellent written and oral presentation skills
• Highly motivated, well organized and flexible
• Fingerprinted
• Child abuse trained (preferred)
