Description

The National Director is the external face of Sustainable Bolivia. This individual works as the liaison between SB’s projects, our partner organizations and volunteers. He/she oversees the promotion and implementation of our projects. He/she will also oversee volunteer placements and fundraising activities.  


The national director will help supervise activities and projects in the Aquicuana Reserve, including a community-based ecotourism project, activities oriented towards conservation and resources management, as well as environmental education and research.


Other duties of the National Director include but are not limited to:


Sustainable Bolivia’s projects and activities:

• Conduct site visits to assess needs and progress

• Assist in the development of current and future projects

• Assist in looking for international funding for the projects

• Assist in the implementation of community development projects

• Oversee the Art Residency Program

• Oversee the Independent Research Program

• Help manage the Language School


General Administration and Office Duties:

• Respond to calls and emails from agencies, volunteers, and others

• Maintain, update and organize management materials

• Collect and maintain data about activities and projects completed

• Assist with translation, interpretation and drawing up of written materials

• Manage maintenance and improvement of accommodations and facilities

• Other administrative duties as assigned, related to the position


Volunteer and Staff Management:

• Oversee an average of 6 volunteers

• Assist with, create and carry out volunteer recruitment and engagement strategies in English and Spanish

• Provide work-related orientation program for new volunteers

• Follow-up on the volunteers’ work

• Assist special projects to engage volunteers in Bolivian culture and society

• Help coordinate cultural and educational leisure activities

• Maintain relationship with host families and coordinate volunteer stays

• Help hire new staff and interns


Communications & Partnerships:

• Oversee the production of communications materials

• Manage social media

• Liaise regularly with variety of local grass-roots organizations and institutions, via email, telephone, attendance of meetings and events

• Provide support, consultancy and advice to partner organizations

• Conduct site visits to partners to assess project needs

• Lead and participate in fund-raising and promotional activities to raise awareness of Sustainable Bolivia projects

Benefits

SB will provide a living stipend. Cover all visa expenses. Provide a private and comfortable room, with private bath, in a communal home. Pay all utilities and housing expenses; as well as a travel stipend and health insurance.
