About the Position

The Executive Director (ED) leads a team of part time and full time staff who deliver age-based programming throughout Arizona. The ED works with other organizations in the Down syndrome community to advocate for policy and legislative changes that benefit people with Down syndrome. The position works under the direction and strategy of the Board of Directors while also supporting the board in their growth and governance. 


About Us

Down Syndrome Network Arizona (DSNetwork) (www.dsnetworkaz.org) has been supporting people touched by Down syndrome since 2002. From the initial diagnosis through adulthood, we are always striving to improve the options and opportunities available for people with Down syndrome. DSNetwork is located in Tempe, AZ with programmatic opportunities across Arizona. We are a growth-stage non-profit with a $340,000 annual budget.


Major Responsibilities:

  • Fiscal management, budget development, cost analysis/tracking, and audit reporting
  • External community relations and internal operational activity development and management 
  • Communications management via website, events, social media, broadcast and/or print media.
  • Program/project development, strategic goals, objectives planning and implementation. 
  • Managerial/supervisory responsibilities of the day-to-day operations.
  • Oversight of event planning, grants, and contracts
  • Fundraising through corporate, foundation and individual giving
  • Advocacy
  • Statewide and out of state travel occasionally required
  • Events may require working some evenings and weekends


Requirements:

Experience and education  

  • 5+ years non-profit leadership/management experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in nonprofit management, business, social work, or related field or an additional 5 years in leadership/management in lieu of a bachelor’s degree. 
  • 3+ years of experience supervising and managing teams
