Description

Inner City Law Center (ICLC) is a nonprofit law firm on Skid Row. Founded on the fundamental principle that every person should always be treated with dignity and respect, ICLC fights for justice for low-income tenants, working-poor families, people who are disabled or homeless, people living with HIV/AIDS, and homeless veterans. Over the next six months, we will add 30 talented and diverse lawyers, paralegals, and other staff to our team so that we can serve far more people. We are looking for extraordinary people to help us end homelessness in Los Angeles.


Position Description: ICLC is seeking a talented, full-time, detail-oriented Staff Accountant with strong organizational and interpersonal skills. The Staff Accountant will:

  • Prepare cost allocations for grant and contract billing monthly and the related invoices, supporting documents and journal entries.
  • Maintain subsidiary records supporting all balance sheet accounts and the related monthly journal entries.
  • Prepare biweekly payroll.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, including investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  • Reconcile client trust accounts.
  •  Prepare monthly and quarterly budget and financial reports for department heads and the Board of Directors.
  • Assist with the annual independent audit and other audits as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.      


Hiring Criteria:

  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to use good judgment, multitask and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Understanding of principles and practices of non-profit accounting.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills.


Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience in non-profit accounting. Minimum three years experience with accounting, payroll and related clerical duties. Must be able to pass a background check.
