Background

The Korean American Family Service Center (KAFSC) is a leading not-for-profit organization assisting women, children, and families in the New York tri-state area to recognize and eliminate relationship violence and abuse. Our counseling, education, advocacy and support services help individuals empower themselves to build safe and healthy relationships based on mutual respect, compassion and dignity. Each year, over 2,500 individuals benefit from one or more services that we provide. All our services are culturally sensitive, linguistically appropriate, and free. KAFSC has a dynamic team of 65 staff and an annual operating budget of over 2 million dollars [ www.kafsc.org ].

KAFSC seeks a dynamic, experienced individual who oversees all aspects of our fundraising/donor events, plays a supportive role for our annual Gala, and oversees agency-wide branding, marketing communication (website, newsletters, and social media). This position is exempt full-time position, and reports to the Executive Director

Key Responsibilities

Annual Benefit Gala Support (25%)

  • Support the Gala Leadership Team ( Gala Co-Chairs, Board Chair, Executive Director, Development Director and Development Associate ) for successful planning and implementation for its Annual Gala
  • Support Gala-Related events as needed especially in regards to invitation/e-news design, other signage, preparation as needed and day of support
  • Manage creation of content for Invitation, Journal, and Gala Website with Director
  • Design all signage/creative pieces needed for Gala to meet print deadlines working with Director and Development Associate

Special Fundraising/Donor Events (30%)

  • Manage all non-gala special fundraising/donor events from planning to execution and follow up including:
  • Purple 5K Run
  • One Day Restaurant/Restaurant Week
  • Holiday Party
  • House Concerts
  • VIP or Donor Events * Update and maintain event vendor listings for Development Team (space rentals/free locations, mtg rooms, bartender services, printing vendors, etc.)
  • Design Annual Appeal in coordination with Director

Non-Fundraising Events (5%)

  • Work with Director in the planning and preparation of the annual staff retreat

Communication & Marketing (35%)

  • Develop a clear and strong brand for KAFSC to be implemented into all of our social media, media, event, print communication/distribution
  • Cultivate staff understanding and usage of the KAFSC brand agency-wide
  • Develop a system for print/design requests and design agency printed materials (flyers, posters, brochures, signage, etc.) in a timely fashion
  • Manage and update our agency-wide yearly communications calendar (social media, press)
  • Develop and release monthly e-newsletters, printed newsletters, press releases as needed in a timely fashion
  • Manage and update website content to be current, informative and easy to navigate including web traffic data reports
  • Manage and update social media including Facebook and Twitter including social media data reports
  • Manage the agency’s advertisement campaigns for Korean Business Directories and newspapers

Agency-Wide Mission Support & Administration (5%)

  • Support and actively participate in agency-wide outreach activities
  • Participate in various administrative and programmatic meetings
  • Actively participate in bi-weekly staff team meetings and retreats
  • Assist Director of Strategy and Development with various administrative tasks

Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in Communication, PR/Marketing, Business Administration, Public Administration, Sociology, or related field
  • Must demonstrate an ability to work independently and with a team and initiate projects
  • Detail-oriented and extremely organized
  • Ability to think creatively, and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Fluency in the Korean language is a plus, but not required
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Publisher)
