The Program Director develops and manages SCFC’s grantmaking initiatives, including the 

Community Oral Health Initiative, Farm to Families, Designated Funds Grantmaking, and as 

appropriate new, mission aligned programs. The Program Director reports to the foundation President.

Plan the programs

  • Collaborate with staff and Board on setting the strategic direction of programs and overall organization
  • Along with SCFC President and Program managers plan the delivery and activities of all SCFC programs in accordance with the mission and the goals of the organization
  • Develop new initiatives to support the strategic direction of the organization
  • Develop and implement long-term goals and objectives to achieve the successful outcome of programs
  • Develop an annual budget and operating plan to support programs
  • Develop a program evaluation framework to assess the strengths of programs and to identify areas for improvement
  • Collaborates with Director of Foundation and Corporate Relations to cultivate, solicit, and secure external individual and institutional funding to to ensure the continuous delivery of services

Organize the programs

  • Ensure that all program activities operate within the policies and procedures of the organization
  • Develop forms and records to document program activities

Staff the programs

  • In consultation with the SCFC President, recruit, interview and select well-qualified program staff
  • Implement the human resources policies, procedures and practices of the organization
  • Establish and implement a performance management process for all program staff
  • Engage volunteers for appropriate program activities using established volunteer management practices

Lead the program

  • Ensure all staff members and volunteers receive orientation and appropriate training in accordance with organizational standards
  • Supervise programming staff, external consultants and subcontracted organizations
  • Communicate with clients and other stakeholders to gain community support for the program and to solicit input to improve the program
  • Liaise with program managers to ensure the effective and efficient program delivery

Control the program

  • Ensure that the programs operate within the approved budget
  • Ensure that all financial records for the program are up to date
  • Identify and evaluate the risks associated with program activities and take appropriate action to control the risks
  • Monitor the program activities on a regular basis and conduct an annual evaluation according to the program evaluation framework
  • Ensure that programmatic outcomes objectives are met
  • Report evaluation findings to the Director of Foundation and Corporate Relations to inform grant writing and proposals
  • Report evaluation findings to the President and recommend changes to enhance the program, as appropriate

Required Qualifications/Skills: 

The ideal candidate will be professional, flexible, able to work in a dynamic setting, enthusiastic about SCFC’s mission, and have a positive attitude.  In addition, he or she should have:  

·        At least three to five years experience managing a complex program or project with multiple stakeholder groups 

·        Experience working with diverse groups and individuals 

·        Familiarity with North Philadelphia and/or similarly vulnerable populations 

·        Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred 

·        Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite

·        Excellent organizational skills and the ability to successfully multitask 

·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

·        Strong facilitation skills
