Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Foster strong relationships and effective communication and collaboration with students, parents, school staff, school administration, partners, and Zone 126 colleagues
  • Conduct an annual needs assessment process that includes reviewing school and student-level data, conduct focus groups with students, parents, school staff, school administration, partners and others that support the implementation of the Zone 126 Neighborhood Community Schools strategy
  • Assist the school administration in developing and implementing the annual goals that are included in the schools Comprehensive Educational Plan (CEP), and include the grant goals to support the Principal’s vision
  • Collect school and evaluation data to support the Zone 126 longitudinal study (overall school rosters on a monthly basis, classroom rosters for programs, student data consent forms, program attendance, individual engagement with students/families)
  • Analyze and utilize the data to effectively manage partner programs, and support the development of additional programming spearheaded by Zone 126 or another implementation partner
  • Manage partnerships with peers at implementation partner organizations to ensure programs are integrated and implemented to support the goals of the grant and the needs of the students/families and school community
  • Support the school administration in understanding the importance of why these programs were created (ex: Little Flower Yoga at PS 171Q for Pre-K through Kindergarten links directly to Kindergarten Readiness according to the US DOE FSCS grant submitted)
  • Facilitate a discussion with the teachers whose classes partner programs will be embedded in so they understand the overall strategy of the Community Schools work
  • Supervise an Attendance Success Mentor Coordinator (ASMC)
  • Do a daily meeting to check in on important updates
  • Conduct supervision twice a month and document staff needs, and support the progress of their individual goals that have been outlined
  • Develop the success mentoring program and support the ASMC in the implementation
  • Do a monthly inventory of all Zone 126 equipment and items within the office that are provided to students
  • Ensure that everything is in working condition
  • Items are not expired
  • Items are in stock far in advance of events (ex: it is November-items should already by ordered and stocked for Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day)
  • Enforce all program policies and procedures to ensure the safety of students and staff, and compliance with government agencies
  • Attend at least one professional development opportunity a month (i.e. either that you seek out or one that Zone 126 recommends)
  • Communicate in a professional manner (on time, and in standard English)
  • Respond to emails within a 24-hour time period
  • Provide a monthly qualitative and quantitative Success and Growth report for the site
  • Establish, and be the lead implementer of the following teams to support the Community School strategy
  • Community School Team (meets at least once a month and discusses programming, events, social emotional supports and things going on in the community that may affect students/families, and school culture)
  • Attendance Team Meeting (meets on a weekly basis to discuss grade level attendance, students who are chronically absent, and develops strategies)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualification, Skills, and Knowledge Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree/Master’s degree (preferred) with 7+ years of progressive experience in a management level position overseeing an educational, college-oriented, youth development
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to issues prevalent in underserved communities of color
  • Demonstrated record of meeting and exceeding goals and positively impacting children, families, and the community
  • Capacity to undertake creative, innovative, and visionary strategic planning and execution
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook and Google
  • Ability to develop Google Forms, create Google Drive Folders and organize documents in a cogent manner
