Description

Everytown for Gun Safety is seeking a motivated individual with political, campaign and/or issue advocacy experience and strong interpersonal and organizational skills to serve as Campaign Manager to support the Federal Campaigns Department and more specifically, 2018 federal electoral work. The position reports to the Deputy Political Director and will help to build and strengthen Everytown’s expanding federal political and electoral work.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Federal Campaigns Department to strategically implement new electoral tools – including a PAC program, candidate endorsement program and independent expenditure program - to effectively navigate the federal electoral landscape
  • Researching federal elections to monitor race developments for potential Everytown engagement
  • Tracking Everytown’s engagement of specific federal elections
  • Interacting across Everytown’s internal departments to support coordination of federal election activities
  • Interacting with outside vendors and consultants to support their progress to goal
  • Working with legal department to ensure department activates are compliant with applicable election law
  • Collaborating to refine and execute federal election independent expenditure planning
  • Assisting with budget tracking and reporting

Position Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of electoral, political or issue advocacy experience – preferably on the federal level
  • Demonstrated proficiency in project management, including building and managing consensus across multiple actors and clearly communicating existing and emerging challenges and opportunities
  • Experience managing outside consultants and/or vendors
  • Familiarity with budgets, paid persuasion programming, polling and voter research programs
  • Working knowledge of FEC regulations as it relates to electoral spending is a plus
  • Highly organized and able to communicate clearly and succinctly
  • Interest in politics and elections on the national level
  • Willingness to work with a growing team in a fast-paced, campaign-like environment (sometimes unpredictable hours and crisis situations)
  • Entrepreneurialism and an orientation that favors action over inaction
  • Flexibility and the ability to maneuver effectively and rapidly in the face of uncertainty
  • Be a team player who is willing to pitch in on work outside of your individual mandate when necessary to support the greater goals of the organization
  • A good sense of humor
  • Travel may be required, especially closer to Nov 2018 
  • While not required, knowledge of gun violence prevention issues is a plus
