School-Based Mental Health Clinician

We are seeking a clinically skilled, Spanish-speaking, master's level clinician to provide individual, family, and group therapy in an innovative school and community-based mental health collaboration in a K-8 public school in East Boston.  

 Connecting With Care (CWC) is a project of the Alliance for Inclusion and Prevention (AIP) in partnership with a local community mental health agency. AIP is a non-profit children's mental health and special education agency serving students and their families in the Boston Public Schools. One goal of CWC is to support mental health providers in placing full-time Master's level clinicians in schools to serve the mental health and traumatic stress-related needs of students and families in Boston. Specialized training and intensive supervision is provided in the areas of evidence-based approaches to treating trauma and anxiety disorders in children. Position description: 

• Provide outpatient clinical assessment and individual, family, and group therapy to children, adolescents and their families who have trauma, mental health, behavioral, psychosocial, or substance abuse concerns. 

 • CWC clinicians work 40 hours/week, carrying a caseload of approx. 25-28 students

• Clinician will be assigned to a K-8 bilingual English/Spanish public school in East Boston 

• Clinician holds primary responsibility for forging a strong, supportive, collaborative working relationship with this school 

 • Clinicians will receive specialized training in evidence-based treatments for trauma and anxiety, including Trauma Systems Therapy and Coping Cat, as well as training in group interventions, such as Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Trauma in Schools (CBITS) and Supporting Transition Resilience Of Newcomer Groups (STRONG).

• Position includes regular team collaboration with clinical, administrative, and teaching staff at Boston Public Schools 

Qualifications: 

• Master's degree in a clinical mental health discipline (MSW or Mental Health Counseling) 

• Requires advanced proficiency in Spanish

 Helpful: 

• Knowledgeable about impact of trauma on urban youth and families

• Experience working with low-income, minority, and immigrant children and families 

• Experience providing school-based clinical services 

• Licensure as LICSW, LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT preferred but not required

Full-Time 10 month school year with summer option.  Competitive compensation and excellent benefits as employee of non-profit partner agency.
