Job Description

Up2Us Sports is seeking an experienced professional to support ongoing program

monitoring and evaluation (M&E) for the Up2Us Sports’ flagship program, Up2Us Coach. In

addition to building local capacity and supporting the Up2Us Sports’ M&E activities

nationally, the Monitoring and Evaluation Manager will contribute to the design and

coordinate the implementation of large-scale evaluations of Up2Us Sports programs. This

person will liaise closely with internal staff and external partners to ensure M&E activities are

carried out in an effective and timely manner. The M&E Manager will report to the Director of

Monitoring and Evaluation.

Job Responsibilities

Data flow processes and quality assurance:

  • Ensure high-quality data collection across Up2Us Sports programs. Data collection
  • methods include fitness tests, surveys, and focus groups.
  • Proactively identify and address any barriers to quality data collection.
  • Receive, organize, track, and manage data collected from host sites.

Data analysis and reporting:

  • Support Up2Us Sports’ Development team on proposal development and reporting
  • needs.
  • Conduct additional data analyses as needed.

External evaluations:

  • Work with the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation and external partners to design
  • and implement quasi-experimental studies.
  • Recruit comparison groups and coordinate logistics for Up2Us Sports program
  • evaluations.
  • Oversee data collection at comparison group sites and data entry.
  • Contribute to the development of evaluation reports.
  • Support other evaluation activities as needed.
  • Training and capacity building:
  • Train staff on M&E systems and processes.
  • Refine M&E training materials as needed.

Tool development:

  • Assist the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation with adapting Up2Us Sports’
  • portfolio of data collection tools.
  • Contribute to the design of new quantitative and qualitative data collection tools.

Learning and dissemination:

  • Coordinate the ongoing review of sports-based youth development and trauma
  • prevention literature and summarize findings for relevant internal staff and external
  • partners.
  • Provide summaries of results of Up2Us Sports program evaluations for
  • Communications and Development purposes.

People Management:

  • Oversee the data activities of 2nd year AmeriCorps VISTAs and interns.


  • 2+ years of professional experience with program evaluation and/or community-
  • based research.
  • Interest in sports-based youth development, public health, or a related field.
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort communicating with a variety of
  • stakeholders
  • Demonstrated knowledge of information and communications technology and its
  • application to M&E - at least proficiency with MS Office (i.e. Word, Excel, Power point
  • and access) is required; knowledge of other data analysis software (e.g. STATA,
  • NVivo, etc.) is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and on a team effectively.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred.
  • This position is based in Chicago, IL.
