Citizens Committee for New York City seeks a motivated and talented individual to join our team!


Citizens Committee —the leading micro-grants organization in New York City— provides micro-grants and project guidance to almost 500 grassroots groups that are improving quality of life in low-income neighborhoods. Led by everyday New Yorkers, these groups are creating solutions to the issues that matter most to them and are undertaking neighborhood improvement projects in low- to moderate-income areas all over New York City. We help local leaders convert vacant lots into community gardens, create reading programs in Title I schools, build hydroponic gardens in high schools that promote STEM learning, launch block cleanups to get neighbors together to improve their communities, and so much more. 



This position is full-time and reports to both the Institutional Giving Manager and the Manager of Individual Giving and Special Events, on a team led by the Director of Development.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Love Your City Corporate Volunteer Program

►      Select and work with Citizens Committee grantees to plan volunteer projects for corporate volunteers

►      Help match corporate volunteer groups with appropriate volunteer projects

►      Manage all volunteer event logistics and ensure events run smoothly

►      Develop relationships with corporations and corporate volunteers in support of the Institutional Giving Manager and Manager of Individual Giving and Special Events

►      Photograph event progress and volunteers

►      Perform event follow up, including social media promotion


Special Events

►      Support the Manager of Individual Giving and Special Events and the Director of Development in managing the Gala, Cocktail, Yankees Suite Fundraiser, and additional fundraising events

►      Research prospective honorees and co-chairs; write solicitation letters

►      Manage donor database (Salesforce), enter data about gifts, and generate revenue reports

►      Generate guest lists and coordinate event mailings as necessary

►      Coordinate vendors, celebrity guests, and other logistics as needed

►      Update website and design collateral including invitations, journals, mailings, event posters, etc.


Site Visits

►      Conduct personal site visits with grantees to develop relationships in support of Love Your City and to collect and highlight compelling grantee stories

►      Coordinate site visits for current and prospective funders, including a trolley tour of grantee sites


 

QUALIFICATIONS

This is a small development department, and it is critical that the Development and Volunteer Coordinator be willing to jump in, learn quickly, and go the extra mile. The ideal candidate must be able to work well under pressure and have a demonstrated exceptional ability to pay attention to details.

►      History of leadership and volunteer management

►      Highly organized, with a passionate dedication to details

►      Strong time-management skills and understand the importance of meeting deadlines

►      Excellent writing and communication skills

►      Creative problem solver

►      Takes initiative, thinks creatively, offers new ideas, and pushes us to become a more effective organization

►      Friendly, easy to get along with, and has a good sense of humor

►      Passion for Citizens Committee’s mission

►      Experience managing fundraising events a plus

►      Photography skills a plus

►      Photoshop skills a plus

►      Fluency in second language a plus

►      Familiarity with Salesforce or similar donor databases a plus

►      Flexibility in work hours, including evening and weekend work
