Organization: Community Resources for Science (CRS) is a nonprofit organization based in Berkeley that helps teachers and scientists work together to bring science learning to life for elementary and middle school students in the Bay Area. We provide information, support, and training for K-8 teachers, and engage hundreds of scientists and engineers from academia and industry in volunteer outreach leading science lessons (virtually during the pandemic, in person when allowed) in schools.
Responsibilities: Engage and build relationships with existing and prospective business and STEM industry partners, for employee volunteer and sponsorship opportunities. Coordinate the recruitment, preparation, and placement of scientist volunteers through our Bay Area Scientists Inspiring Students program. Project coordinator will work with private industry employers to arrange volunteer opportunities for employees, and develop science education outreach partnerships. Project Coordinator will work with the BASIS Program Managers to accomplish recruitment, preparation, and placement of volunteers. Coordinator will also reach out to new prospective partners for sponsorships and employee community service projects.
All outreach programs are currently in virtual format; when covid safety protocols allow, we hope to return for in-person, in-school programs in 2022.

Schedule, Hours, and Salary: This is a part-time, fixed-term, contract position for 15-20 hours per week from September 2021-August 2022, with possibility of extension. Work is conducted during the standard work week; however candidates should have a flexible schedule to accommodate the varying needs of partner employers, volunteers and teachers. Hourly rate $20-$22.
