The Manger of Professional Training and Healthcare Services is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations and grant-funded activities of the Professional Training and Healthcare Services Department and the Research Program for Alzheimer’s Greater Los Angeles. The Professional Training and Healthcare Services Department creates, markets, and delivers training programs to care providers and oversees continuing education opportunities for professionals. Provider outreach is conducted to promote the organization’s services. 

The Manger of Professional Training and Healthcare Services also manages Alzheimer’s Greater Los Angeles’ Research Program, which includes working with the Medical/Scientific Advisory Council, overseeing the Young Investigator Award Program, and coordinating other research activities. 

Essential Job Functions:

·        Develop and administer appropriate training programs and materials using the education process: needs assessment, establishing objectives, writing curriculum, establishing evaluation criteria and overall evaluation of the program

·        Coordinate and deliver trainings and presentations to healthcare providers and other care providers

·        Market training programs to care delivery organizations

·        Responsible for keeping up-to-date with all health education information pertinent to curriculum topics

·        Attend network and stakeholder meetings, providing advocacy, technical assistance, and education

·        Staff exhibit tables at professional conferences

·        Help develop and oversee online training programs

·        Oversee continuing education and certification program, including creating procedures, advising staff, ensuring courses are in compliance, and maintaining documentation

·        Conduct provider outreach, including developing outreach tools and strategies, meeting with providers, and conducting in-service presentations

·        Manage research program, including Medical/Scientific Council meetings, research grants, and Young Investigator Award Program

·        Organize inquiries, process requests, maintain records and statistics

·        Coordinate activities outlined in grant work plans

·        Other duties as assigned


Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Required

·        Masters degree in gerontology, social work, public health, health care administration, related field, or equivalent work experience

·        Experience in long-term care, health care systems, or with people who have dementia & their family caregivers

·        Excellent written, oral, and listening communication skills

·        Ability and willingness to travel to workshop sites as well as meeting and training sites

·        Familiarity with Microsoft Office

·        Ability to work with diverse volunteers and staff

·        Well organized; ability to coordinate multiple projects

·        Problem-solving skills and good judgment

·        Knowledge of database software programs highly desired

·        Public speaking experience desired

·        Experience working with adult learners a big plus

·        Experience with family caregivers or people with dementia highly preferred

·        Bilingual Spanish preferred
