The SCI AmeriCorps program supports youth success by connecting young people with the relationships, experiences, and resources they need to succeed. Members implement volunteer outreach and capacity building activities that increase volunteer participation, and provide leadership training and service-learning opportunities for youth. Since 2007, SCI AmeriCorps members have served at various host sites in Greater Boston, who are aligned with the mission of Social Capital Inc.

SCI AmeriCorps is currently looking for members to fill Youth Leadership Coordinator (YLC) positions for a 1700-hour service commitment between September 2020 and June 2021. The YLC will increase the capacity of host sites to implement social capital building, youth engagement and community service-learning as strategies to achieve high educational outcomes.

HOST SITE OPPORTUNITY ─ BUILD Boston (Boston, MA)

The SCI AmeriCorps Member will:

● Mentor freshmen, sophomores, and seniors in small groups and in one-on-one bi-weekly sessions to develop and track progress on each student’s individual academic and career success plan.

● Coordinate and manage workshops/information sessions with local partners to ensure that students know their options and have as many resources as possible to assist them with career and college exploration and selection.

● Ensure students are aware of and meet deadlines for any applications and tests for the post-secondary options they are interested in, including college and financial aid applications.

● Help organize and/or facilitate skills-based workshops such as mock interviews, cover letter and resume writing, creating a professional LinkedIn profile, and other workplace skills.

● Attend weekly meetings and train with BUILD staff to gain experience and knowledge within these areas and learn best practices that align with BUILDs Core Values.


REQUIREMENTS :

● Able to commit to Full-Time service in local communities with diverse residents

● Effective communication skills to conduct community outreach through marketing strategies and civic engagement

● Strong work ethic, collaboration, and time management skills

● Availability to serve in-person for some or all service activities. BENEFITS
