The Unitarian Universalist Urban Ministry (UUUM) is a nonprofit organization in Roxbury whose mission is to work across race and place to dismantle racism and white supremacy culture and to advance racial, economic and social justice. An Urban Ministry program, Roxbury Youth Programs (RYP), are a series of out-of-school time activities for high school aged youth that provides a safe and positive environment that helps introduce and develop academic, social, and leadership skills through the lens of historic and modern Roxbury.


Job Type: Full Time – Exempt

Reports to: Director of Programs


Position Summary:

UUUM is currently seeking a full-time Roxbury Youth Programs – Program Manager to supervise all aspects of RYP which include youth leadership and community engagement activities, tutoring, alumni engagement, and a scholarship process. The Program Manager will lead the curriculum development and delivery to 15-25 young people each year with the support of a part-time youth program coordinator and the Director of Programs.


Responsibilities:

 

75% Program Supervision & Youth Development

  • Develop and implement goal-oriented curriculums to 15-25 young people during the academic year and 7-week summer session
  • While running program remotely:
  • Build and maintain a digital library of ‘online class materials’ to share Zoom such as teaching materials, videos, and projects
  • Create a process for collecting youth feedback and comments
  • Communicate with youth outside of program time to help them succeed in remote programming
  • Provide 1-on-1 support to young people as needed
  • Develop pipeline programming for young people to engage with RYP over multiple years with support of Director of Programs
  • Develop and execute a program marketing, recruitment, and screening plan
  • Prepare for and participate in regularly scheduled meetings with active participants

·        Maintain accurate and timely youth records on Google Sheets or other database

·        Refine program polices and guidelines

·        Support in development of RYP communication and messaging to community stakeholders


10% Program/Youth Evaluations & Alumni Cultivation

·        Support and administer program evaluations provided through Boston After School & Beyond

  • Actively participate in program-wide planning and evaluation
  • Work with staff to implement recommended program enhancements

·        Support the development of consistent alumni communication

10% Administration

·        Provide facilitation or 1-on-1 feedback to RYP volunteers or interns

·        Participate in monthly UUUM staff meetings, weekly RYP meetings and supervision with the Director of Programs

·        Assist in other department and/or UUUM initiatives as required by Director of Programs


5% Professional Development

·        Participate in ongoing professional development as requested


Qualifications

  • 3+ years of direct experience developing curriculum and delivering programming to young people  
  • Demonstrated history of program success (i.e. youth persistence, recruitment/expansion, demonstrated impact)
  • Understanding of positive youth development framework and non-profit management preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient knowledge of video conferencing tools (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet, Skype, or WebEx) and educational technology (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite)
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive and culturally responsive workplace and learning environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills, careful attention to detail
  • Experience and desire to work in a team setting
  • Feel comfortable being seen as a leader and modeling for colleagues and youth
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, commensurate experience considered


Salary: Commensurate with experience

Location: Remote & 10 Putnam Street, Roxbury, MA 02119

 

Schedule: M-F 10AM – 6PM or 11AM – 7PM, occasional weekends or evenings as special activities and gatherings require
