North American Family Institute, Inc., (NAFI) is seeking a Payroll Supervisor. This position is based out of the NAFI Corporate office in Stoneham, Massachusetts and will report to the Comptroller and will be part of the finance team. The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for leading all aspects of payroll processing and preparation in a fast-paced environment for 1500 employees in multiple states using the UKG HCM Platform (formally Ultipro) and the UTA time and attendance module. This position will also be responsible for the review of completed tax filings at the federal, state and local levels.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the preparation and processing of bi-weekly payroll
  • Research discrepancies of payroll information and/or documentation (e.g. time sheets, leave time) to ensure accuracy and adherence to policies and procedures
  • Acts as a point person for payroll team members for trouble-shooting problems and concerns
  • Reconcile Payroll hours paid to weekly time sheet postings
  • Processing and payment of wage garnishments
  • Printing and mailing of paychecks to multiple locations
  • Work closely with human resources department to coordinate new hire set ups, benefit deductions, and final check for terminated employees
  • Research and implement updates related to new payroll regulations
  • Responsible for compliance with all federal, state and local withholding requirements, including setting up new accounts with agencies
  • Resolves unemployment tax and withholding issues and prepare unemployment payments for processing
  • Balances periodic, monthly, and quarterly payroll and tax files and work to resolve discrepancies.
  • Thorough understanding of multi state payrolls
  • Coordinate preparation of W-2’s
  • Support annual financial audit
  • Responsible for payroll related content on our UKG self-service portal
  • Reconciliation of payroll bank account
  • Will collaborate cross- functionally with Finance and other departments as needed to complete required payroll analyses and projects
  • Provide training and support to current/new team members as needed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a payroll department
  • Experience with UKG or a similar HCM system
  • APA certification a plus
  • Excellent skills using MS Word, Excel and Internet Explorer
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines
  • Supervisory experience a plus

Due to the national pandemic, the Corporate Office is currently working remote. The candidate will work remote until further notice with the possibility of returning to full in-office work in the future.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $58,000.00 - $68,000.00 per year
