Development Associate, Individual Giving

In 2021, A Wider Circle will remain steadfast in its three programmatic realms of Essential Support, Workforce Development, and Neighborhood Partnerships, while maintaining a commitment to outreach and awareness building. To support this effort, we are seeking a Development Associate with a specific focus on Individual Giving to join our team.

The Development Associate, Individual Giving serves as program coordinator for the solicitation and engagement of mid- to major-level donors at A Wider Circle. This position will be responsible for supporting the growth of and then maintaining a portfolio of both major donors and mid-level prospects and include tasks related to identification, cultivation, and stewardship of annual fund donors. The Development Associate, Individual Giving will play a critical role as a member of the Development Team, contributing to overall Individual and Major Gift Program objectives as well as donor stewardship and reporting.

This position will report to the Chief Development Officer and is based in Silver Spring, MD. Currently, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this position can be fully remote, with occasional opportunities to be on site.

Responsibilities:

• Qualify prospects capable of making gifts at the $500 and above level, overseeing and driving all aspects of the giving cycle.
• Collaborate on cultivation and solicitation strategies and move prospects strategically towards solicitation and stewardship, including annual renewals and upgrades.
• Support the engagement of prospective donors with A Wider Circle’s mission and vision for the future, staying current on programmatic needs and priorities.
• Develop and manage individual donor-specific written materials, including solicitations, renewals, stewardship communications, and giving program updates.
• Provide support for Annual Fund and Major Giving programs, including as the first line of inquiry for individual prospect screening, identification, and research.
• Report on Mid-level and Major Gift metrics, goals, and progress.
• Participate in events and programs in support of Development activities, engage key donors and volunteers, and effectively utilize engagement strategies to move prospects and donors through the pipeline.
• Work with the Chief Development Officer on portfolio and prospect management projects, including coordinating annual portfolio reviews, developing prospect management metric reports, and assisting with prospect and portfolio management policies and procedure development.
• Conduct donor tours as needed.
• Maintain up-to-date and accurate records within the donor database.

Qualifications:

• At least two years of experience in development or a related field required, with specific expertise in individual fundraising preferred.
• Previous experience successfully coordinating and supporting a portfolio of mid-level donors resulting in increased giving.
• Experience with social services or direct service community organizations in the greater Washington, DC region is a plus
• Knowledge of Little Green Light or a similar constituent resource management database.
