Under the direction of the Senior Vice President of Communications and Marketing, the Communications and Marketing Coordinator manages administrative tasks and executes internal communications and marketing strategies for Safe Horizon to enhance its internal communication and staff relations, and elevate its brand externally. 

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

Departmental support

  • Provide general department administrative support, including tracking projects, creating systems and processes for departmental organization, managing editorial and staff calendars, coordinating with vendors, handling billing and more.
  • Assist the SVP as needed.
  • Assist with writing and proofreading as needed.
  • Other tasks as needed.

 

Internal communications:

  • Manage the execution of internal communications and marketing, with a focus on enforcing best practices and improving readership of messages. 
  • Draft, edit, proofread, and provide support in internal messaging (emails and internal marketing) for select supportive departments, namely Human Resources, Information Services and Technology, and Facilities.
  • On a scheduled basis, produce compelling content for the internal staff newsletter that highlights the exceptional people and work of Safe Horizon, and collaborate with colleagues on content creation. Build a marketing program that grows newsletter readership.
  • Develop internal staff messages that promote Marketing efforts.
  • May support larger internal communications strategies such as the yearly Staff Awards, campaigns or other events.
  • Other tasks as needed.

 

Brand Management:

  • Serve as organization’s point of contact for distribution and development of collateral for clients, event, funders, and others.
  • Draft and update collateral and other assets.
  • Develop processes for producing collateral, internal communications and other marketing materials. Respond to internal and external requests for information and materials.
  • Develop and manage timelines for content created internally and externally.
  • Ensure brand consistency in all marketing materials and creative assets, including logo and tagline.
  • Vet, negotiate, and collaborate with vendors (designers, printers, videographers, etc.) on the pricing and creation of assets and manage contracts.
  • Act as the main point of contact for advertising projects and campaigns, including advertisement development and production, placements, tracking and measurement.
  • Other tasks as needed.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to understand and communicate complex issues and their impact to internal and external audiences.
  • Strong writing, proofreading and editing skills.
  • Professional, organized team player who can also work independently, and who enjoys working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • High functioning multi-tasker that can manage and resolve requests from across the organization in an organized and efficient fashion.

 

Required Education:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

 

Required Experience:

  • At least three years of experience in communications, marketing, or equivalent field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Practitioner of social media communication
  • The ideal candidate will be a creative problem solver, have a knack for compelling storytelling and superior project management abilities.
  • Willingness to learn and expand skill set.
