Position Description

The Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District (MVT CID) seeks an innovative and dynamic Associate Director of Marketing, Communications & Events to join a small, highly entrepreneurial team to work on various day-to-day and long-term marketing communications assignments involving (1) external communications, (2) event planning and execution, (3) marketing material production, (4) digital communications and (5) stakeholder/partner relations and engagement. The Associate Director of Marketing, Communications & Events will be encouraged to devise long-term branding and community engagement strategies for the organization and will be given the opportunity to take the lead on such initiatives. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who possesses a high degree of intellectual curiosity and is comfortable working with minimal supervision and within a fast-paced environment. The incumbent is also someone with a passion for stakeholder engagement, community and economic development, urban district management and "placemaking." This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to work with place management organizations such as Business Improvement Districts (BIDs), or who seeks to advance their career in marketing, communications, public relations and affairs, and/or event planning. Strong interest in community and cultural planning, particularly as it relates to social equity and inclusive development, is an additional differentiator that will distinguish ideal candidates. The MVT CID believes strongly that advancing strategies to responsibly contribute to unmet societal needs while “raising the bottom” for what’s possible in mixed-use, mixed-income downtown neighborhood is critical toward enhancing our ability to successfully fulfill the community’s innate potential—and seeks the interest of candidates whose professional and personal values align with this organizational ethos.

Please note that this is an individual contributor position with minimal-to-no supervisory responsibility. The expectation therefore is that incumbents for this role will have the requisite capabilities, experience, professionalism and maturity that will enable them to meet (and exceed) all performance objectives associated with this opportunity beginning day one of their tenure. Only serious candidates certain of their ability to meet this performance standard should apply.
