For 30 years, Maryland Nonprofits has worked to promote a thriving and effective nonprofit sector in Maryland, as well as nationally through our Standards for Excellence Institute. With our 1,400 members, we coordinate advocacy with nonprofit leaders to advance equity and public policy that supports vibrant community organizations and civil society. Maryland Nonprofits capacity-building services include the state’s largest nonprofit consulting group, training, an annual conference, and accreditation through the Standards for Excellence® program. We are the home of the Maryland Association of Resources for Families and Youth (MARFY), Maryland Latinos Unidos (MLU), and the Charge Up Collaborative. Position Summary

The Senior Capacity Building Specialist will lead programs and provide on-demand support for primarily Latino-led organizations and Spanish-speaking nonprofit leaders. In the first two years, the primary responsibility will delivering a specific grant-funded scope of work to develop, lead and provide support to a cohort of Latino-led organizations. This will include assessing needs, listening and providing support, providing training, developing curricula, adapting materials in Spanish, measuring impact and metrics, managing consultants and speakers, and providing regular grant reporting. Additional capacity building and consulting services to other nonprofit organizations and being part of consulting offered by the Maryland Nonprofits Consulting Group will likely be part of this role following the completion of the two-year grant-funded program.

Position Description

Consulting Services to Nonprofit Organizations

• Reach out to Latino leaders and build relationships and trust.
• Assess the needs of Latino-led organizations and design programs and services to meet those needs.
• Design and deliver training, facilitation and supportive programs for nonprofits. 
• Supervises subcontract consultants and trainers.
• Provide on-demand technical assistance to nonprofits, primarily Spanish-speaking and other Latino leaders.

Service Provision

• Provide high quality consulting and training services within areas of expertise.

Additional Professional Staff Functions and Responsibilities

• Support staff by providing input and requested information for grant proposals and reports.
• Technical Assistance Services - provides telephone, email, online community, and in-person technical assistance to members and other callers in the areas of his/her expertise. 
• Communication and Outreach Activities - participates in communicating about all programs and services of the association, including cooperative buying programs, statewide and regional training programs, statewide and regional events, etc., with the nonprofits being served.
• Member Recruitment and Retention - participates in recruitment and retention of nonprofit members.
• Organization-wide efforts - actively participates in organization-wide efforts, including staff meetings, convenings, and special events.
• Such additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in the nonprofit sector.
• Consulting and capacity building experience.
• Public speaking and training experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong analytical ability and organizational skills.
• Entrepreneurial spirit, ability to work independently, capacity to manage multiple assignments, attention to detail, computer self-sufficiency, and a passion for excellence.
• Must be willing to travel in-state and inter-state.
• Must be willing to work remotely.

Work Environment, Physical Requirements, and Other Details

• This is primarily a remote position. Some work in the field for training, events and meetings will be required.
• Work at a computer in a stationary position for sustained periods of time. Accommodations (e.g. standing desk, balance ball chair) can be made available.
• Required to work hours outside of a standard 9 AM – 5 PM schedule for special events, client projects and programs (on as needed basis).

Compensation and Benefits

The Senior Capacity Building Specialist role is a full-time position with an annual salary of $80,000.
