Position Details
Purpose: Lead Teaching Artist (LTA) is tasked with providing creative and strategic leadership to oversee support Budding Artists educational programming, at all partnership locations both in-person and remote. This position works in collaboration with the entire Education Team and Executive Director. Lead Teaching Artist will work with Executive Director and Advisory Board to ensure that Budding Artists meets its mission, vision and growth goals.

Major Responsibilities, Skills and Qualifications
· Lead Teaching Artist must have experience working with children from 3-5 years old in process-based environment
· Primary responsibilities include designing age appropriate, hands-on lessons for creating artwork with young preschool age children, in a variety of media: drawing, clay, paint, collage, wire, etc. while teaching art techniques that allow children to express themselves fully and build relationships with materials and each other in a class setting
· 12 ECE units are PLUS
· Experience teaching children's art: 2 years (Required)
· Must be able to focus on the experience and an exploration of techniques, tools, and materials
· Must be comfortable and have experience with managing a group of children
· Passion for working with underresourced groups,comfortable engaging with parents/guardians and members of the community
· Enthusiasm for and encouragement of children’s creativity through developmentally appropriate art experiences
· Lead Teaching Artist must be fun, creative, friendly, energetic, responsible, organized, a team player, hardworking and able to multi-task
· Must have the ability to train and supervise teaching artists; functions as lead instructor
· Must have experience with curriculum development; Lead teaching artists will lead the education team in the development and implementation of innovative curriculum
· Lead teaching artist is expected to maintain open lines of communication with colleagues, staff, advisory board and at partner locations. This includes answering phone calls, emails and text messages within a timely manner
· Oversees the collection of program statistics for all education-related activities
· All other related duties that Budding Artists may from time to time assign to Lead Teaching Artist
· Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
· Lead Teaching Artist will routinely:
- Lift, push, pull or carry art supplies, equipment, instruments and classroom furniture weighing up to 40 lbs. Bend, twist, reach, stand and/or sit for long periods of time. Lead Teaching Artist to perform the aforementioned tasks in a safe manner.
Job Type: Project Based
Work Location: Both remotely, on-site at our art studio in the Hawthorne Arts Complex, and in the South East Los Angeles area (depending on health and safety conditions)
Salary: $20.00 - 25.00 /hour depending on education and experience
Hours: 20 hours or less per week
