JOB SUMMARY

LISC LA seeks a professional to fill the position of Program Assistant (PA). The PA supports functions related to LISC LA’s comprehensive economic development programs. Responsibilities include: partner and community engagement activities; research and data collection; grants administration and compliance; fund development assistance; and other duties including but not limited to assisting with the execution of communications, trainings, and events.

LISC LA is one of 32 offices of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation, a national non-profit organization that provides financial and technical assistance to nonprofit community development corporations (CDCs) working to improve access to affordable housing and economic opportunity in low to moderate income communities.

LISC LA’s economic development strategy is devoted to fostering equitable and inclusive development in neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles County. We invest in partners, programs, and policies that catalyze entrepreneurship, create living-wage jobs, and support access to capital and opportunity for small business owners in low-to moderate income neighborhoods. The PA will support the implementation of LISC LA’s comprehensive economic development programs, including but not limited to the development of our Anchor Institution Strategy in South LA, the Kiva Micro-lending Program, and the expansion of the Financial Opportunity Center network throughout LA County.

Responsibilities:

  • Research best practices, policies, and programs as it relates to procurement and supplier diversity from a variety of public agencies and large institutions;
  • Collect, sort, and analyze data from partner organizations and agencies;
  • Assist with writing and editing reports, blogs, and other communications materials;
  • Provide Grants Management assistance including but not limited to processing federal grant awards, consultant agreements, disbursement requests, invoices, and managing all compliance and reporting requirements;
  • Perform partner outreach and community engagement activities as needed;
  • Assist with fund development tasks including proposal development, compliance, and reporting;
  • Provide logistical and program reports for meetings, special events, trainings, and webinars.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required- concentration in urban studies, business administration, planning or similar field a plus;
  • 1-3 years of work experience in community development or related field preferred. Experience should include successful track record with research, program development, and contracts coordination;
  • Capacity to work simultaneously on multiple tasks and projects;
  • Excellent research, organization and communication skills;
  • Ability to be flexible, multi-task, and work in fast-paced environment;
  • Grant writing and communications experience a plus;
  • Knowledge and experience working with Salesforce, Microsoft Office Suite and social media/networking preferred;
  • Some knowledge of the economic, political and social landscape of LA County.
