Young Judaea Sprout Brooklyn Day Camp, in Red Hook, is a Hebrew dual-language camp for children entering Pre-K through 5th grade. Sprout Brooklyn is a place where children from a wide spectrum of Jewish backgrounds join together to create a joyful community built on Jewish values, a connection to Israel and the Hebrew language.


Position Summary

We are seeking a Jewish camp professional who will fill the role of Assistant Camp Director. The Assistant Director is responsible for staff recruitment, operations and scheduling.


Responsibilities

  • Manage staff recruitment process and facilitate the hiring process for season staff
  • Manage camper registration process
  • Manage Accounts Payable and Vendor accounts
  • Create camp schedule, coordinate trips, special events and overall camp calendar
  • Serve on the team planning staff training and development


Requirements

  • Minimum of two seasons of camp administrative or leadership experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Recreation, Jewish Studies, Nonprofit Management, or Business OR unrelated degree with progressively responsible year round experience in day camping
  • Experience working in or engaged with the Jewish community
  • Experience working with children ages 3 – 10
  • Preference given to Hebrew speakers
