Position Summary: 

The Coordinator will serve on LEE’s Organizing Leadership (OL) team and provides administrative and programmatic support to accomplish both the internal and member-facing functions of the team. The Coordinator will report to the Vice President, Organizing Leadership. They will work to create, maintain, and improve the systems and processes that enable OL staff to provide the highest quality leadership development experiences to our members. 

The Coordinator is responsible for providing administrative support and developing systems for a strong functioning OL team, supporting and conducting regular outreach to LEE members, coordinating program and team event logistics, and implementing systems and processes to support OL and its collaboration with other teams. In addition, the Coordinator is responsible for managing resources and systems that advance the Leadership Development and Design team’s vision for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) through impactful member and staff-facing programs and approaches. They will partner with other coordinators across the national impact team to ensure systems that aid effective collaboration.

This role requires exceptional attention to detail, and an ability to proactively create systems and document best practices to ensure we are constantly learning, improving, and developing ways to work more efficiently. The Coordinator also needs to be comfortable utilizing and learning new online tools and platforms that we integrate into online learning experiences. The Coordinator needs to exercise strong judgment in responding to questions, troubleshooting problems, and flagging issues for other team members as needed. Finally, the Coordinator will need to successfully build and maintain relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders, including other staff at LEE, our members, and other partner organizations.


Position Location: Flexible (Eastern time zone preferred)

Travel Requirements: 20% including nationwide travel by plane at least twice a year when conditions permit

Responsibilities:

Operations and Administrative Support (40%)

  • Facilitate regular team meetings by organizing and maintaining the agenda, developing culture-building activities, taking notes, and aligning the team on key follow-up activities
  • Track, code, and monitor program budgets and team expenses including reconciling the credit card expenses for the vice president and senior director on the team
  • Support calendar management for the vice president of the team
  • Maintain clear announcements systems that ensure the team is up to date on teamwide and organizational deadlines and priorities 
  • Develop operations systems for tracking internal team processes
  • Support the VP or SD in hiring processes, including schedule coordination, candidate communications, and organizing notes/uploading notes to the applicant tracking system

Programming Support, Operations, and Coordination (40%)

  • Conduct outreach for a portfolio of LEE national workshops, including identifying members who might be suitable for these opportunities, building targeted recruitment lists, supporting the mass email process, and tracking progress to goals 
  • Provide support for national virtual workshops, including managing videoconference tool (Zoom), administering member incentives, and support in facilitating virtual communities
  • Draft and update recruitment materials, program webpages, and online learning resources at the direction of program managers and directors
  • Help program directors manage application, selection, and confirmation processes, including updating and monitoring applications and participating in selection processes 
  • Support individual program participants by tracking submission of assignments and troubleshooting online courses and platforms 
  • Format and design materials for LEE’s national workshops, including PowerPoint presentations, online surveys, pre-work assignments, and other documents

Data and Evaluation Support (10%)

  • Manage accurate maintenance and access to program data in LEE’s Salesforce database
  • Provide support with tracking member movement and conversion across key leadership roles and actions
  • Support coordination with NI data for report preparation prior to monthly data deep dives

Special Projects (10%)

  • Other projects as assigned by the Vice President, Organizing Leadership

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate years of work experience 
  • 2 years of professional experience 
  • Exceptional organizational skills and detail orientation, including past experience coordinating logistics for events or programs (both in-person and virtual) 
  • Experience drafting and editing effective, streamlined and error-free communication
  • Demonstrated ability to plan strategically, prioritize time, and manage implementation of plans in fast-moving, changeable environments
  • Strong relationship building skills with internal and external stakeholders 
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word 
  • Creativity and ability to implement innovative ideas to improve process management
  • Strong, demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity & inclusion

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, independent work environment 
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in politics, policy, advocacy, organizing or civic engagement, at any level 
  • Previous experience engaging in community organizing either civically or professionally
  • Campus/civic leadership experience; previous leadership training or fellowship experience Experience working with Salesforce, Qualtrics,Thought Industries,and/or Zoom 
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate within a geographically dispersed team 
  • Deep passion for educational equity and belief in LEE’s mission and theory of change
