Status and Compensation: Part-time; Non-exempt

Brief Description of the Law Program: 

The Law Program is a 13-week legal education course with experiential components that inspires youth to change their behavior and builds their skills and confidence to help make change possible.

Program Evaluation Specialist - Position Summary

The Program Evaluation Specialist is a member of the Law Program team and is responsible for the administration of FLY’s baseline assessment to Law Program youth in Alameda County. This position will be responsible for the data entry of the baseline assessment and play a lead role in recruitment for FLY’s Leadership Program. 

Primary Responsibilities

·        Build rapport and trust quickly and continuously with youth in the Law Program in order to have meaningful one-on-one conversations and build relationships

·        Conduct baseline assessment of FLY’s Law Program youth to determine eligibility and/or need for further support through FLY’s programs

·        Provide additional information about external resources based on youths’ responses to the baseline assessment, on an as needed basis 

·        Build rapport with external stakeholders such as school officials, probation, and other local community based organizations to support youth

·        Enter and maintain youth baseline assessment (BLA) information in the agency database, Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) and support Program Coordinator with updating demographic information

·        Collaborate with Leadership team, lead BLA meetings, and make programmatic placement recommendations based upon baseline assessment data and qualitative assessment of youth 

·        Serve as a liaison between the Evaluation and Learning Department, Law Program staff, and Law Program volunteers and support with data analysis projects as needed

·        Facilitate legal education curriculum at 1-2 Law Program sites each semester as needed

·        Availability for occasional evening and weekend work, including Law volunteer trainings and events, as needed

·                  Other duties as needed and assigned. 

Qualification and Competency Requirements

Positional Competencies – required for our Program Evaluation Specialists

·           Data-Driven Evaluation Methods & Programming: Ability to take excellent notes during youth baseline assessment sessions and input them into ETO (Efforts to Outcomes), FLY’s Database, in a regular and timely fashion. Understands how data informs programmatic decisions and allows FLY to track program effectiveness. 

·           Data Monitoring: Ability to effectively monitor numerous data-related details and accurately identify any errors or missing information.

·           Relationship-Building: Ability to initiate, develop and maintain trusting relationships in a short period of time with youth, as well as with key external stakeholders, FLY volunteers and staff. Possess the passion to energetically promote FLY’s mission/vision to attract and retain youth participation with FLY.  

·           Strong Motivational & Communication Skills: Exceptional listening, verbal and written communication skills with all staff, volunteers and youth, including: active listening with youth while guiding them through the assessment process; timely and professional follow-through with phone calls and email correspondence; and the ability to effectively present information in a clear and concise manner to top management, program staff and community partners.

·           Experience: Familiarity with the juvenile justice system preferred.
