Description

Harmony Project is an award-winning research-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that targets at-risk youth in underserved areas of Los Angeles. We promote positive youth development through year-round music lessons and ensemble participation.

We are currently hiring an Instrument Inventory & Supplies Manager

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Strong background in repair and maintenance of a variety of musical instruments
  • A personal mission, vision and values that align with Harmony Project’s
  • A passion for social change, community empowerment and youth development
  • Ability to multitask and maintain an organized area
  • Ability to work well with others and independently
  • A strong sense of humor and ability to gracefully handle stressful and sometimes troubling situations
  • Fluency in all Microsoft Office programs, prior experience using contact databases
  • A driver’s license and proof of valid automobile insurance
  • Flexible work schedule to include some weekends, weeknights, and holidays
  • Ability to travel daily to various program sites

The Instrument Inventory & Supplies Manager  is responsible for:

  • Accurate inventory, assignment, and security of musical instruments and related equipment
  • Act as primary contact for instrument and supply needs of Harmony Project
  • Ensure all instruments have proper setup and supplies
  • Perform basic repairs, regulates, tunes and maintains musical instruments
  • Check woodwinds for leakage, set sound posts, handlap piston valves
  • Coordinate Advanced Instrument Repair as needed
  • Deliver to and act as primary communication with repair shops & volunteers
  • Maintain documentation of work orders, completed repairs, and instruments sent to vendors
  • Advises on the purchase of instruments and equipment as requested
  • Actively research and understand student instrument market
  • Delivers instruments and supplies frequently to various program sites
  • Other tasks as needed and as requested
