    ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

    Colorado Youth for a Change (CYC) is an educational nonprofit organization with a statewide scope. CYC addresses barriers to learning by providing individualized support throughout pivotal stages of students' education journeys. We provide a continuum of services from Prekindergarten through high school to help students find success through tutoring, case management, and outreach to help in-school youth remain in school or out-of-school youth return to school. We envision an equitable education system where each student has access to resources they need to maximize their own learning and growth.     DEPARTMENT SUMMARY

    The Development Department is responsible for raising awareness and resources for CYC to sustain and grow programming. Diversified revenue streams include grants, events, individual and corporate donors, and fee-for-service in partnership with schools and districts.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Grants Manager works in conjunction with the Development team to oversee the research and writing of grant proposals for the financial support of Colorado Youth for a Change. Under general direction, this position facilitates research, development, review, and editing of grant proposals and reports; as appropriate supports staff in developing corporate/individual proposals; monitors project tasks; utilizes Salesforce to track and report on grants; and manages a portion of funder relationships. This position is full-time, Denver-based, with a salary of $65,000 with benefits.

    Essential Functions

    Grants Management

    • Research and identify potential sources of foundation, state, city/county, and corporate grants.
    • Lead grant process and proposal for federal AmeriCorps grants, including continuations, performance measures, and narrative.
    • Write and coordinate grant proposals and maintain all electronic grant files.
    • Maintain a working knowledge of local, state, and national trends, demographics, and issues related to fundraising and education.
    • Maintain grants database in Salesforce including approved, pending, and declined reports.
    • Participate in the budgeting process and be accountable for assigned revenue goals.

    Reporting

    • Partner with Development Coordinator to produce all funding reports according to prescribed guidelines and deadlines.
    • Ensure post-award grant compliance by monitoring grant contracts, agreements, and evaluation planning.
    • Create reports for the Board of Directors, committees, and staff.
    • Work closely with program staff and evaluation staff to identify outcomes, stories, and other important program information.
    • Work collaboratively with other development staff to meet the goals of the annual fundraising plan.

    Funder Cultivation and Relations

    • Develop and maintain positive relationships and communication with funders including outreach to new prospects.
    • Serve as initial point of contact for grant funders.
    • In partnership with Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives and Executive Director, coordinate site visits and presentations to current and potential funders.

    Other Duties

    • Attend and participate in staff meetings as required.
    • Speak on behalf of the organization when appropriate.
    • Attend relevant community and school meetings including site visits.
    • Run errands as needed using personal transportation.
    • Perform other duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned.
    • Complete required training courses as assigned by CYC.

    • Computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
    • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Self-directed and able to effectively work independently to meet deadlines.
    • Work collaboratively with internal staff and external partners.
    • Excellent attention to detail, ability to be highly organized, and work under pressure to manage multiple deadlines.
    • Contribute to a positive morale.
    • Appreciation of clear and appropriate boundaries with youth, AmeriCorps members, and staff.
    • A passionate and committed belief that students deserve access to quality education resources and support.
    • Dependable transportation and insurable as a driver on the auto liability policy of Colorado Youth for a Change.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
    • Five years of experience in grant writing, management, and research.
    • Proven track record in proposal success, grant management, and communications.
