At The Crossroads (ATC) reaches out to homeless youth and young adults at their point of need, and works with them to build healthy and fulfilling lives. Our model focuses on young people who do not access traditional services and are disconnected from any type of consistent support. We remove common barriers to service by bringing our counselors onto the streets, and shaping our support services around the needs of each individual client. The Position:

ATC is in the midst of the most significant growth phase in our history—now is an exciting time to join our team! We are about to expand our organization to meet the growing need for our services. The Communications Manager role is a great opportunity for someone to have a huge impact on a growing organization, to engage in a variety of different fundraising and communications strategies, and to strengthen the messaging at an organization that is recognized for its innovation and thoughtfulness in its fundraising. The role is perfect for someone who is a fantastic writer, is creative, likes graphic design, and has strong project management skills.


Fundraising at ATC:

Our operating budget is 1.7M and growing. Our work is 100% privately funded. We have a diverse base of support. About 51% of our budget comes from Foundations & Corporations, 37% from Individual Donors, and 12% from fundraising campaigns and events.

Position Reports To: Development Manager

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week, incl. some evenings and weekends

Compensation: $58,000/year


Responsibilities:

  • Gather and create compelling stories/content and visuals/videos about At The Crossroads, its clients and programs for web, e-news, events, newsletters and social media.
  • In addition, you will plan, write, and edit all content for bi-annual print newsletters, e-blasts; manage social media accounts (content, ideas, strategy, analytics); edit/design website and update with original content (stories, photos, videos); run media outreach efforts (press releases, pitches, media plan).
  • Oversee and strengthen our foundation and corporate grants by managing the grants calendar, writing and editing grant applications and reports, and identifying new opportunities
  • Manage internal and external communications and branding, helping to develop a clear, cohesive voice and brand for ATC in all of its communications
  • Participate in our nighttime street outreach once per month


Required skills:

  • Minimum of 1 year’s experience in a marketing, communications or related fundraising role
  • Journalism and/or oral history experience
  • Desktop publishing experience, especially with InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google platforms


Preferred skills:

  • Experience with fundraising and development
  • Knowledge of Wordpress, basic HTML/website maintenance experience
  • Grant writing experience
  • Knowledge of Salesforce
  • Knowledge of Wordpress, basic HTML/website maintenance experience
  • Background in project management
