Position: Case Manager

Department: Homeownership Center (HOC)

Status: Full-time with benefits

Reports to: Director of Programs & Quality Control

Organization: MANNA, Inc.

Background: MANNA is a nonprofit developer of quality affordable housing. The organization has was established in 1982 and was the first organization in the country to create a Homebuyer's Club, which is a peer support group and homeownership counseling program. This program, created in 1986, has been replicated nationally by NeighborWorks American (formerly the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation).

Description: A MANNA Case Manager provides education and coaching services in a classroom and one on one setting to discuss topics related to housing, while managing a continuous client pipeline. Also, works with a team of housing counselors to run and promote MANNA's exclusive homebuyer education & services.

*This position is great for anyone who is good interacting with people of varying backgrounds and economic levels. The position requires the ability to interact well with strangers, leave a good impression, track client data, manage client cases. Due to the nature of the work, being good with following up with clients, being meticulous about entering data, tracking data and analyzing client data is a crucial component. Those with a background or working knowledge of real estate, the D.C market or policies/programs will do well in this position as well.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Client Case Management
  • Logging client information into computer database
  • Client coaching and follow ups
  • Tracking client progress and entering data into database
  • Creating Action Plans for new clients
  • Attend Workshop, Tier Classes, 4-8 Hour Trainings
  • Provide Workshop presentations
  • Provide reporting to higher management and funders
  • Provide feedback to Director on existing programs
  • Maintain Program Management & Promotion of MANNA's housing programs and developments
  • Assist in website management (updating events & homebuyer education programming changes)

Requirements:

  • Washington D.C Resident OR D.C Resident within 90 days of hire
  • HUD Certified Housing Counselor OR Certification obtained by August 2020
  • NeighborWorks Housing Counselor Certification OR Obtained within 90 days of hire
  • Bachelor's Degree (4 Year Degree)
  • Strong case management skills
  • Computer Savvy - Able to use technology proficiently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Calendar

Preferred Qualifications (MANNA will give priority to candidates with these qualifications):

  • Prior experience with low and moderate-income households
  • 3 or more years experience as a Housing Counselor 
  • Proficient in case management software / Salesforce
  • Knowledge of best practices in homebuyer education and credit counseling including affirmative marketing plans and tactics
  • Familiar with home purchase process and mortgage process

Skills:

  • Highly organized and meticulous (strong attention to details)
  • Ability to multi-task and timely complete project tasks under pressure
  • Ability to work independently & in a team setting
  • Ability to motivate adults (clients)
  • Ability to meet deadlines for other departments (as required)

Additional Details:

The primary MANNA office is located in Washington, DC but MANNA has multiple locations and work at multiple locations will be required.

MANNA serves Washington D.C. and Prince George's County, Maryland. Therefore; work all areas of Washington D.C. and areas of Prince George's County, Maryland will be required.

MANNA has offices at multiple D.C. locations and Prince George's County, Maryland. Work from these sites will be required.

Office hours will vary pending client meetings and orientations. Office hours include monthly weekend meetings. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

*This position is being hired for on a rolling basis. Qualified applicants will be contacted as applications come in. Preferred start data is flexible but a hire will ideally be made prior to the end of March.

MANNA will be collecting resumes and creating a list of viable candidates on a rolling basis. MANNA will be begin to collect a list of candidates in February and will be interview on a rolling basis as batches of qualified applicants are identified, the process could take as long as 8 weeks. The start date is flexible with a potential hire to begin earlier than March 9th or later.
