The Senior Manager, Development, reporting to the Vice President of Development, will be the lead development office for Audubon in the state of Washington. Their primary responsibility is to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major gifts that enable Audubon to achieve its ambitious local, state and national goals. They will develop and manage a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects capable of giving $10,000 + annually. To do so successfully, they will work closely with members of the development team, the Vice President and Executive Director of Audubon Washington and other colleagues throughout the state/ region, and volunteer board leaders. The right candidate will have lived experience working with people and communities of color—and demonstrated ability in doing so.
- Work with the Vice President for Development, the Executive Director of Audubon Washington and volunteer leadership to develop and implement a multi-year fundraising plan to grow philanthropic revenue to $1.5m to $2m a year.
- Work with the Executive Director and Pacific Flyway Fundraising Vice President to develop annual fundraising plans and donor facing materials that highlight the breadth and depth of our work throughout the state.
- Create and maintain a portfolio of ~100 major donors and prospects, executing annual plans including personal visits, solicitations, regular stewardship communication, event invitations, etc.
- Staff the Executive Director of Audubon Washington in her fundraising by preparing donor strategies, briefings, meeting materials, as well as proposals, reports, and other donor facing collateral.
- Ensure accurate donor data in Salesforce and regularly report on progress towards activity and revenue goals.
- Serve as the primary staff liaison to Audubon Washington’s Development Committee and in the planning of cultivation and solicitation strategies, events, trainings, and other fundraising activities as appropriate.
- Design and implement cultivation, engagement, and stewardship events (both in person and virtual) to help strengthen relationships with existing supporters and potential prospects.
- Ensure gifts are coded, acknowledged, and stewarded appropriately.

Qualifications and Experience
- The ideal candidate will have ~7 years of development experience as a frontline fundraiser.
- Demonstrated ability in developing donor relationships that result in five and ideally six-figure gifts.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team as well as to be self-directed with a high degree of accountability.
- Skilled at working cross functionally with stakeholders, as well as high-level volunteers and boards.
- Ability to guide projects, establish and monitor priorities, maintain flexibility and meet deadlines with little direct supervision.
- Excellent strategic thinking, analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Outstanding stewardship and relationship management skills.
- Knowledge about birds is not required, though experience with and a commitment to conservation is a positive.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required; experience with fundraising databases (e.g. Salesforce) would be beneficial.
- Travel within Washington will be required (when it is safe to do so again); potentially ~25% of the time.
