 Position Summary: 

The Grants Coordinator position is a vital part of HOLA’s development team, providing essential financial resources necessary for the organization to effectively and efficiently operate and implement its programs and services. The individual will write grant proposals and reports for a specific funder portfolio, manage and develop donor relations, oversee the administrative tasks for the grants department, and more.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·      Write grant proposals and reports for assigned funder portfolio, accurately and effectively meeting funder requirements, deadlines and specifications.

·       Manage relationships with assigned portfolio and initiate ideas for relationship development and growth gifts.

·       Become an “expert” on HOLA’s programs, focusing efforts and resources to help meet programmatic and financial needs.

·       Write, speak and communicate with authenticity and passion for HOLA’s mission, values, programs and goals.

·       Liaise with funders and prepare development team for and participate in site visits, etc. as necessary. Attend RFP sessions, workshops, etc.

·       Oversee the administrative tasks of the grants department that include, but are not limited to, grants calendars, grant tracking documentation, grants filing systems, record keeping, etc. 

·       Oversee the review of all awards corresponding to specific funder portfolio and retain/record signed agreements, expense restrictions, reporting requirements and dates, etc. Communicate these restrictions and requirements to all appropriate parties within HOLA.

·       Work collaboratively with HOLA’s finance department to ensure grant compliance.

·       Participate in proofing exchanges with the development team and assist in completing department tasks.

·       Research new funding sources and integrate the corresponding timeline/deadlines into the grants department’s calendar and workload.

·      Assist Senior Grants Officer in tasks, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)

·      Persuasive or argumentative writing experience required, prior grant writing/development experience strongly preferred.

·       Strong administrative skills and practices.

·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

·       Analytical, quantitative and organizational skills.

·       Ability to work independently with a high degree of reliability, accuracy, good judgment and productivity.

·       Skilled in managing internal and external relationships to support proposal development, compliance and implementation.

·       Demonstrated ability to produce a high volume and high quality proposals.

·       Proficient computer skills required.

·      Bachelor’s Degree or higher.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The building environment does not provide air conditioning and heat in all areas. Outdoor work is expected in some cases.

I understand and agree that my employment with Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA) is at-will, and can be terminated with or without cause or notice by either Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA)  or myself. I also understand that no supervisor or any employee of Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA) has the authority to enter into any agreement for employment for any specified period of time or to make any agreement contrary to the at-will relationship described above.  The at-will relationship will remain in effect throughout my employment with Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA)
