We are looking to hire a Communications and HR Coordinator to help us present and showcase Hestia’s services in unique and inspiring ways. You will be based in Athens, Greece and must be able to work in the EU. Knowledge of Greek, Arabic, Farsi or French a plus. This is a new role and the candidate must have experience building a communications strategy for NGO’s, be able to manage several urgent deadlines, work well on a team, have excellent planning and organising skills, be able to successfully work with little direction and consistently meet deadlines. The role will report to the Director/Co-Founder. 

Candidate must be in Athens or be willing to relocate to Athens by early September.


  • Create a communications and marketing strategy for Hestia
  • Manage all social media
  • Create inspiring stories highlighting our programs, events, workshops, etc.
  • Create and manage campaigns to raise funds for the NGO
  • Assist the Director in creating strategic PR and communications assets
  • Filming and editing videos for donors, fundraising, social media, etc.
  • Developing and graphically designing presentations for internal and external use
  • Manage PR assets for internal events and program/project launches
  • Draft and managing stories for our blogs, monthly newsletter, publications, etc.
  • Other related responsibilities, as needed

Human Resources

  • Full recruitment process from drafting, advertising, interviewing, recruiting and follow up e-mails for staff and volunteers
  • Managing online HR files for staff and volunteers and ensuring all policies and procedures are in order
  • Submit monthly reports to the Director
  • Other related responsibilities, as needed


Position Requirements

  • A minimum of 3-4 years of communications and HR experience with an NGO, corporation, or agency in a coordinator role
  • Proven experience in designing winning presentations
  • Video and editing experience with a focus on showing, not telling
  • Experience developing communications assets
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and still meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of the refugee situation in Greece and Europe and the economic crisis in Greece
  • Strong project management, event management, and organizational skills
  • A people person with proven leadership skills
  • Creative and strategic thinker who is passionate about working in a start-up NGO

Level of Language Proficiency

Fluency in English with knowledge of Greek a plus. Arabic, Farsi or French an asset.
