The Adoptions Facilitation Assistant will both directly facilitate adoptions as well as train selected staff and volunteers at Los Angeles Animal Care and Control care centers in positive client focused adoptions, best practices in daily care and feline herd health as prescribed by ASPCA medical staff and leadership

This part time position is scheduled for Sundays from 9:00am - 5:00pm and Mondays from 11:00am - 7:00pm.


Adoptions Facilitation (80%):

  • Conduct adoptions of cats at Los Angeles Animal Care and Control care centers, presently focusing on the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center
  • Collect data and engaging stories regarding successful adoptions
  • Provide needed data and information on adoption results to supervisors on a routine basis

Training and Oversight (20%):

  • Provide training, support and direction to Los Angeles County staff and volunteers in regards to feline adoption process best practices
  • Observe and find opportunities for improvement in daily care and feline herd health at the shelter
  • Assure proper implementation of daily care protocols
  • Provide consistent feedback to supervisor regarding adoption processes and protocols to share with ASPCA staff as needed to enhance impact

Education and Experience:

  • Associate Degree or higher preferred
  • Experience with daily care, adoptions or animal handling preferred
  • Experience in an animal shelter preferred

Ability to work independently and collaborate with a team that works remotely, Computer skills required (Minimally Excel and Office, along with the ability to quickly become proficient in the shelter’s software system), Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs, kneel, bend and reach overhead to meet the physical demands of this position, Must be comfortable handling a variety of cats in stressful conditions to support adoption efforts, Must be detail oriented, Must be self-guided individual, requiring minimal supervision, Must have excellent customer service skills, Must possess excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
