Manager of Operations, Asian American LEAD 

Type: Full-Time

Location: District of Columbia

 Salary & Benefits: AALEAD offers a compensation package that includes a competitive salary commensurate with experience- $45,000-$50,000; fully paid premiums for medical, dental, and vision coverage; fully paid life insurance; fully paid long- and short-term disability insurance; a 403B program; 10 days of annual leave per year, 6 days of paid sick leave per year, plus paid federal holidays off; and regular opportunities for training and development.

Position Description: AALEAD is seeking an exceptional candidate for the role of Manager of Operations. This individual will manage our office’s administrative functions, and also play a key role with our development and communications. They will work closely with the Executive Director to develop and implement strategies that help AALEAD accomplish its vision, mission, and goals. The ideal candidate will be driven, detail oriented, and highly organized. They will create order out of chaos, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. They will report directly to the Executive Director, but work with staff, our board, and outside consultants. Sense of humor required. Passion to assist AAPI communities essential. 


Key Responsibilities

Administration 

·      Work with external bookkeeper to coordinate incoming funds and track/record outgoing payments

·      Coordinate operational administrative tasks including but not limited to support with various document submissions

·      Coordinate, update, and maintain current organizational records, registrations, licenses, and certifications

·      Manage the full cycle of human resources to include employee on-boarding, employee paperwork, assignment of computers/phones, payroll, and off-boarding

·      Update and maintain shared Google Drive file storage system

·      Ensure all phone, hardware and technological systems are properly working and resolve problems when they occur

·      Additional duties as assigned 

Development 

·      Assist in drafting compelling grant applications and maintaining current descriptive language for use in proposals 

·      Coordinate administrative and financial aspects of grant reports

·      Produce thank you notes in a timely manner. Track all communications using donor software.

 Communications 

·      Assist in marketing and communications, including the development of new strategies to broaden our reach

·      Manage production of high-quality print material 

·      Continue to improve upon AALEAD’s website, newsletter, and social media efforts

·      Additional duties as assigned 

Qualifications:

·      BA/BS required; Master’s degree in a related field preferred

·      Enthusiastic about AALEAD’s mission

·      3-5 years’ experience in a similar environment with increasing responsibilities

·      Exceptional organizational, time-management, communications, and management skills

·      Solid oral and written communication skills

·      Excellent knowledge of PowerPoint, Google Suite, and Microsoft Suite

·      Familiarity with Canva

·      Demonstrated interest in fundraising and grant-writing

·      Flexibility to work some weekends, evenings, and holidays

·      Proficiency with fundraising databases preferred but not required.

·      Proficiency in an Asian language preferred but not required 


What else you should know

A Note On Hiring and Employment During Covid-19: AALEAD staff have worked hard to continue serving and supporting AALEAD youth during the ongoing health crisis. AALEAD follows safety guidance of state, county, and school districts regarding social distancing and in-person operations. At this time, the majority of operations are completed remotely through digital formats with some limited in-person engagements. The selected candidate would be required to visit the office at least two to three times a week for administrative matters. The timeline for remote work and return to in-person work will be determined by the Executive Director. While working remotely, staff must have access to a reliable Internet connection, computer, phone, and other accessories required to complete job tasks. When in-person, this position reports to the DC AALEAD office in Washington DC with some required travel to programs, events, and AALEAD offices in Virginia and MD.
