    Description

Always Wanted to Join the Peace Corp but Afraid to Fly?

Pilot People Encouraging People to its next landing place as the organization’s new Chief Executive Officer, adding exciting destinations to its 45- year journey as an ever responsive, integrated healthcare entity in the Baltimore- Washington corridor.

Our 501 c 3 corporation provides value-based services that are life-transforming for traditionally underserved, trauma infused communities where complex health and social issues often result in extreme poverty, homelessness, psychiatric illness, substance abuse disorders, and incarceration. Some people experience them all and are amazingly resilient. We have high expectations of and for them to demonstrate our commitment to social justice, and support each person in the manner that best ensures their recovery, health and life choices. Our responsibility is to support healthy neighbors to build healthy communities.

We are person-centered and industry savvy. Business and family focused. We are humble and sophisticated. Very diverse and united in mission. We believe that poverty, homelessness and incarceration cannot coexist with good health.

Psychiatric illnesses are the most common reason to referral to our organization. Our Assertive Community Treatment, Engagement and Outreach Services, Targeted Case Management, Treatment and Rehabilitation Services, and Supported and Affordable Housing touch over 4000 individuals each year. With seven office locations in five counties, a staff of over 250 professionals and paraprofessionals, and 320 housing units owned and managed by People Encouraging People, this $28m+ Joint Commission Accredited non- profit corporation offers effective and compassionate care to adults in need, as well as their families.

The current CEO, who has piloted the organization for more than 40 years, is running low on fuel. Time to be grounded and let a new innovator and creative leader take the controls. Curious to see where People Encouraging People will land next? You develop the itinerary and let a very capable flight crew assist you in getting there.

    The Position

The Chief Executive Officer has ultimate responsibility for ensuring that the People Encouraging People mission, vision, and values are reflected in its delivery of services. People Encouraging People is looking for a strong and innovative behavioral health leader to build upon the solid foundation of compassionate care that People Encouraging People has provided for the last 45 years. The new CEO will have the opportunity to grow the organization’s existing workforce and train the “next generation of leaders” in behavioral health while making a significant difference in the lives of those served by the organization.

With this in mind, our “ideal candidate” will have:

    • A master’s degree in business administration, public health, health policy, and/or a behavioral health field, preferred
    • A minimum of seven (7) years of progressive senior leadership experience in a behavioral health setting, with a strong preference for C-Suite experience
    • Prior experience working with a Board of Directors; non-profit setting preferred
    • A passion for serving similar clients to PEP, with special emphasis on individuals and families with complex needs and those experiencing health inequities
    • Demonstrated success at leading, managing, developing, and directing teams
    • Prior success collaborating and partnering with external organizations and institutions, including public and private entities and elected officials
    • Successful political advocacy experience at a local, regional, and state level
    • Experience directly working with or supporting the Behavioral Health Community and a commitment to serving individuals struggling with mental health, substance use, joblessness, or homelessness
    • Prior success building a diverse, inclusive workplace culture committed to intercultural competency and an inclusive leadership style that incorporates intergenerational understanding, zero tolerance for microaggressions, and awareness of power, privilege, and personal biases
    • Demonstrated prioritization of employee health, well-being, growth, and development
    • Leadership experience with operations, finance, quality and risk management, and human resources, within a complex healthcare/human service setting; preferably experience in a behavioral health, CMHC, FQHC, or CCBHC setting
    • Demonstrated data-driven decision making and use of data analytics in organizational management

We are seeking a Chief Executive Officer who is dedicated to establishing their residence in central Maryland, a beautifully diverse area with a population of over half a million people. Residents love the affordable, high quality of life along the Chesapeake Bay. Conveniently located near Baltimore, MD, and Washington, D.C., the area offers vibrant communities, expanding economies, great schools and many colleges and universities. This is a fantastic environment for single professionals and families alike, and is very pet friendly in its rural areas, suburban neighborhoods, urban settings, or waterfront environments along creeks, rivers, or the Bay.

If you love the outdoors, you will appreciate the more than 500 miles of shoreline, perfect for boating, fishing, crabbing, water skiing, sailing, and swimming. Nature lovers can explore two state parks, over 120 county parks, and several nature preserves.

There are three international and several regional airports within one hour of all of our office locations. ( keeping the pilot theme going)

At People Encouraging People, we recognize that inequality negatively impacts our employees, clients, and the communities we serve. We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment for all our employees and promoting this culture of belonging in our work and beyond. Diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging are fundamental to our health, mission, vision, and values. We believe our workforce should reflect the rich diversity of the communities we serve, including individuals with lived experiences, and that diverse voices must be intentionally amplified and included in our efforts. Thus, People Encouraging People proudly stands as an EEOC and Affirmative Action employer. We do not engage in discrimination based on any protected characteristic, including race, color, genetic information, creed, national origin, religion, sex, affectional or sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, lawful alien status, ancestry, age, marital status, pregnancy, parental status, or protected veteran status, and we will not discriminate against anyone based on a disability.

An appealing compensation package is awaiting our next “pilot” candidate. Where do you want to go? Come, go with us.
