WHO WE SEEK

We seek an experienced accounting professional that will be proactive, self-directed, with the ability to work in a stand-alone role and as part of a team, and who sets a high bar for himself/herself and the work product. RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Accountant is responsible for providing accounting and financial reporting services to Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors and its clients. This individual will interact with the Sponsored Projects & Funds (SPF) team on an on-going basis to ensure all financial matters are addressed and both internal and external reports are accurate and distributed on a timely basis. The responsibilities include:


Accounting & Financial Reporting Services:

+   Finance Team Lead on technical process of generating financial reports from our financial systems and providing thorough reviews and financial analysis of the data.

+   Generate, review, and distribute GAAP annual and quarterly financial statements for sponsored projects in addition to monthly and budget to actual financial reports for sponsored projects & donor advised funds.

+   Prepare various financial reports as required by sponsored projects on a continuing and/or adhoc basis including cash flow reports, burn-rate analysis, annual projections, and other custom financial reports as requested.

+   Ensure compliance with client contracts and agreements in regards to all financial matters.

+   Review all invoices and expenses in Concur for proper support and accurate general ledger accounting codes; communicate findings to Finance Assistant.


+   Perform grant administrative role for sponsored project grants including, but not limited to, federal and international government grants. Functions include: insuring proper coding of revenue and expenses to grant; verifying supporting documentation for grant compliance; requesting funds from funders on a timely basis; timely reporting to funders as required by grant agreement; utilize, review and maintain a grant tracking system to insure grant compliance.

+   Serve as primary finance support for the Uniform Guidance audit.

+   Process general ledger journal entries (ie. reclasses) as necessary.

+   Assist in the preparation of analysis and documentation for our annual financial statement audit, Form 990 tax return, and any program specific grant audits.

+   Support the SPF Finance Team and partner with the SPF Senior Accountant to fulfill all client requests.


Client Services:

+   Obtain a deep understanding of each of the 40+ sponsored projects and remain up-to-date on financial matters in order to better field questions from clients.

+   Support SPF team on all financial matters and engaging senior management when appropriate.

+   Work closely with SPF team to assist clients with preparation of annual budgets.

+   Communicate with SPF team on an on-going basis and serve as a direct liaison between SPF team and client(s) when necessary.

+   Develop reports for management and other RPA lines of service as needed.

+   Support finance staff in enhancing understanding and utilization of financial reports throughout our organization.

+   Attend regular and frequent meetings with SPF team.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Minimum B.S./B.A. Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. CPA preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 4 years of related experience with significant responsibility.

Skills/ Knowledge:

+   Sound knowledge of general and nonprofit-specific accounting principles and procedures

+   Working knowledge of Netsuite, Fluxx, and Microsoft 365 preferred

+   Working knowledge of Concur Expense and Invoice Management preferred

+   Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously and meet deadlines

+   Ability to work well with other staff members as well as outside auditors, vendors, financial institutions, etc.

+   Ability to adapt to changing processes and remain flexible within a growing organization
