The Program Development Manager (Consultant) is responsible for managing the delivery of quality consulting services to nonprofit and for-profit foodservice and workforce development clients. This includes communicating the value proposition of compelling consulting service offerings, development of the consulting service pipeline, meeting revenue targets and both in-person and remote service delivery. This position will collaborate with a variety of internal and external partners at all levels to achieve goals and objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Consulting Delivery:

  • Provide program life-cycle consulting services tailored to the participating organization, stage of development, foodservice business, training programs, or clientele; ensure timely follow-up and support to clients in the wake of service delivery; work closely with other Catalyst Kitchens team members and leadership to meet the needs of each individual organization.
  • Deliver services via workshops, site visits, trainings, virtual meetings, and webinars.
  • Develop training workshops for members and clients to increase the efficacy of their work.
  • Maintain Catalyst Kitchens' standards through organization assessments, and recommend appropriate course corrections.
  • Leverage relevant consulting services to develop, launch and scale programs and increase community impact.
  • Build the knowledge and capacity of staff at client organizations to launch and scale foodservice job training programs.
  • Aligns key stakeholders around a common program vision and maintains alignment through engagement and empowering clients.
  • Guides and models for all organizations in the ecosystem - nonprofit organizations, for-profits, employers, government entities, etc. – on how to identify and engage with key community stakeholders.

Sales, Outreach and Relationship Development:

  • Responsible for identifying, targeting, qualifying, and cultivating relationships with clients and prospects for Catalyst Kitchens. Provides relationship account management with assigned accounts.
  • Responsible for prospecting and outreach in current and targeted new markets.
  • Network and present at industry conferences and events.
  • Facilitates Catalyst Kitchens membership benefit events and interacts with members as clients, trainees and workshop participants.
  • Develop new membership and consulting opportunities, meet revenue goals and forecast revenues in partnership with management.

Product and Resource Development:

  • Partner with resource development, members and FS staff to create, evaluate and update Catalyst Kitchens consulting services, tools, curriculum and other materials. Cross train internal staff on those offerings.
  • Participate in creating, launching, or implementing new products.
  • Project management by creating and enhancing products that fill a niche in the market.
  • Consulting market research materials to competitors’ products to ensure that products are viable and competitive.
  • Savvy adapter and initiator of new technology especially for remote work/delivery of content.
  • Knowledge/experience with building new products for virtual and in-person consumption. 
  • Stay abreast of key trends to inform product development in the foodservice and workforce development sectors.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two or more years of experience in consulting, group facilitation, and/or training experience, ideally for multiple not-for-profit organizations
  • Demonstrated experience of a year or more in at least two of our service areas which include food service social enterprise (business) development, job training program development, and/or community engagement.
  • Understanding of the life cycle of businesses: entrepreneurial planning, start-up, development/growth, and expansion.
  • Understanding at a minimum or working with organizations on addressing the root causes of poverty, hunger and joblessness in the US including issues surrounding access, equity, diversity, inclusion, implicit bias, and institutional racism desired.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments, meet deadlines, and display initiative.
  • Strategic thinking and analytical skills to evaluate programs and identify challenges and opportunities.
  • Experience communicating effectively to front-line staff, students, managers, executive leadership, teams, board members, partners, and diverse stakeholder groups.
  • High level of tact and diplomacy in conveying areas of improvement to clients.
  • Fluency in business-critical applications and remote collaboration tools: Word, Excel, CRM, Outlook, PowerPoint, Zoom, Teams, etc.
  • Proven relationship management, account management, customer service and sales skills
  • Ability to work and deliver services remotely with flexibility to travel up to 50% post pandemic.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel local, domestic & international. Current passport or ability to obtain one required. (Up to 50% post COVID-19 restrictions and regulations)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education, Communications, Social Work, or Social Sciences, or equivalent.
  • Experience with data management, reporting, tracking and analysis.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • During public stay at home order, employee will be working remote.

COVID-19 Consideration: We coordinate with the King County Public Health Department and the CDC to follow all required protocols


  • Moderate local and domestic travel up to 50%. Occasional international travel. This includes air travel, car travel, stays in hotels or other short-term rentals, and all subject to post COVID-19 restrictions and regulations.
