Description

What you get to do:  The Communications Coordinator plays a key role in shaping ASA’s digital presence, creating email marketing campaigns, maintaining active engagement on social media platforms, and creating visually appealing content. You will assist in developing campaigns and materials for both the On Aging Institute (ASA’s education and programmatic work) and the On Aging Conference (ASA’s annual in-person conference). This position affords a unique opportunity to engage directly with ASA’s members using ASA’s various communication platforms and to contribute to the development and execution of communication strategies to expand ASA’s voice in the field of aging. Excellent communication and writing, attention to the tiniest of details (and grammar), with a flair for the use of the written word and a sincere desire to create good work, will lend themselves nicely to your success in coordinating ASA’s communication efforts.

Your core work and outcomes will include:

  • Your solid communication skills will allow you to develop and execute communication campaigns to build, grow and retain ASA’s membership and to promote ASA’s events, initiatives, and resources.
  • Comfort with various social media channels together with a true desire to be an “aging influencer” will embolden you to successfully grow ASA’s online presence.
  • Your inner-artist’s persuasive creativity will allow you to design visually appealing templates and graphics for email and various digital and print materials, including social media posts, website banners, infographics, and event signage.
  • A curiosity about “how is all this working” will drive you to track performances, to identify trends, and areas for optimization.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

  • Let’s be honest, you have to be a really good writer. Really good.
  • A demonstrated commitment to inclusivity and leading with equity.
  • Organization, creativity, and collaboration skills are a must.
  • A positive, people-centric personality to communicate the work of ASA and to further ASA’s reach.
  • An ease with Microsoft Office and Teams software programs, video platforms, and excellent digital file management is among your must-have talents.

You are:

  • Fired up about the possibilities of our aging society and want to make a difference.
  • A creative and effective communicator and people-person by nature who desires to get the job done and done well.
  • Articulate, detailed, dependable, and reliable.
  • A team player who possesses humor, patience and the ability to play nicely in the sandbox.
