JOB TITLE: Administrative Assistant

EMPLOYER: American Council of the Blind Inc

LOCATION: Alexandria, VA

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

COMPENSATION: $18/hour

HOURS: 20 hours/week

 

SUMMARY: The Administrative Assistant provides support to ACB’s fast-paced Alexandria, VA office. Main responsibilities include fielding incoming calls, processing mail and providing excellent customer service.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Fields and professionally routes up to 40 incoming calls daily

·        Sorts and delivers incoming mail

·        Processes outgoing mail, including USPS Priority and UPS

·        Supports other members of the ACB team through scheduling meetings, arranging travel, and organizing presentation materials

  • Answers phones, checks voicemail and general voicemail; updates outgoing messages as appropriate for holidays, etc.;
  • Updates Information Referral and Peer support (IRPS) resource lists.
  • Listens emphatically to provide support and direct callers in crisis.

·        Performs other related duties as assigned by management.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        This job has no supervisory responsibilities.


QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

·        Associates degree or higher required

·        Proficient Microsoft Office 365

·        One year of office-related experience
