The Opportunity: CommunityHealth seeks to hire a full-time Foundation Relations Manager who will be responsible for the development and execution of the grants program (primarily foundation and corporate grants; few select government grant opportunities). In addition to grants, the Foundation Relations Manager will also write annual appeals, award nominations, and other key fundraising communications. The salary range for this position is $48,000-$52,000 – dependent upon experience.



Duties and Responsibilities

Fund Development

  • Assumes the lead role for the grants program: writes letters of interest, proposals, and reports for funders; works with program staff to ascertain program goals, budgets and status updates; schedules and manages site visits; maintains funder communications/relationships
  • Creates/maintains master grant calendar
  • Researches and identifies new funding opportunities
  • Collaborates with Research Officer to obtain research-focused grant funding by assisting in prospecting, writing, and editing grant proposals
  • Leads the development of any award applications, including coordination with staff and writing/submission of applications
  • Works with Director of Development and Communications and senior management team to research and identify fundable opportunities to advance the organization’s strategic plan.
  • Collaborates with senior leadership team as required to review and communicate current priorities, plan ahead for upcoming deadlines, and address any challenges.
  • Writes the appeal copy for at least one direct mail fundraising appeal per year and other fundraising communications, as requested (e.g., annual report, other special appeals)
  • Other duties as assigned



  • Prepares monthly development planner and year-end reports with Director of Finance; contributes to monthly forecasting
  • Other duties as assigned



  • Participates in professional associations as appropriate to advance both personal growth and visibility of CommunityHealth
  • Participates in the preparation of the revenue budget, as well as the monthly forecasting and reporting for the board of directors and finance committee
  • Ensures ethical and sound financial administration of contributed grants income, including overseeing the donor and prospect records for foundation and corporate funders
  • Other duties as assigned




  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience, specifically grant-writing and project management, with a demonstrable record of success
  • Superior oral/written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills required
  • Strong organizational and time management skills required, with outstanding attention to detail ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and with a broad range of internal and external partners to develop relationships and facilitate collaboration
  • Proactive and creative problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and online research tools required
  • Proficiency with donor/constituent management database system(s) preferred
