THE ALLIANCE: The Alliance for Gun Responsibility works to end the gun violence crisis in our community and to promote a culture of gun ownership that balances rights with responsibilities. Through collaboration with experts, civic leaders, and citizens, we work to find evidenced-based solutions to the crisis of gun violence in our community. We create innovative policy, advocate for changes in laws, work to implement laws and improve systems, and promote community education and civic action to reduce gun violence.


We work closely with a wide range of partners, including agencies, community organizations, law enforcement, youth, and community members, to prevent gun violence. The Program Director has primary responsibility to oversee programming that includes education and engagement in communities most impacted by gun violence, advocacy within the community, and coordination with stakeholders - including those from the criminal justice system and governmental organizations at the municipal, county and state levels. The Program Director will have a proven ability to engage diverse communities and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Leadership & Management 

·   Participate as a member of the Leadership Team to set organization-wide goals, develop & implement the strategic plan, assess organizational opportunities, support organizational changes, and steward workplace culture.   

·   Inspire, lead, motivate, and supervise program staff: Field Organizer(s), Chapter Team Advocacy Organizer


Partnership Cultivation & Collaboration 

·   Cultivate and maintain strong relationships and partnerships that complement the Alliance mission, programs, and goals.  

·   Attend strategic meetings as a representative of the Alliance and convene partners to identify opportunities to collaborate.  

·   Support CEO in the creation of strategic partnerships and opportunities to position Alliance as a local and national leader in gun violence prevention.

·   Works closely with the Communications and Fundraising Director to identify opportunities between programs and fund development, supporting with funding requests, volunteer engagement, and annual appeals.  

·   Collaborates with the Communications team on external communications, program related projects, and advocacy opportunities to engage our grassroots and grasstops networks.

Program Strategy & Growth  

·   Support program staff in the development, execution, and measurement of impact against an annual program plan.  

·   Lead Programs Department in the creation of annual department budget & department goals.

·   Work with the leadership team and Board of Directors to identify new programmatic opportunities that work to address all kinds of gun violence and engage the communities most impacted by gun violence.


Program Management & Oversight  

·   Lead educational programming including Summits, Coalition Programming, and Public Education Campaigns.

·   Lead Coalition management.

·   Oversee field staff in executing field activities during legislative session and electoral activities.

·   Manage program grants including reporting.



·   Knowledge of equity and social justice principles and practices, and understanding of the effects of place, race and policy and systems-based inequities on marginalized communities and populations.

·   Commitment to honoring the leadership of people of color and other marginalized communities.

·   At least 2 years of experience working with coalitions-convening diverse partners (i.e. nonprofits, advocacy organizations, governmental agencies, community and faith-based organizations, schools, law enforcement, etc.) to gain their commitments and ensure execution of those commitments.

·   At least 2 years of experience with direct field work on issues or candidate campaigns. This includes volunteer recruitment, phone-banking, doorbelling, and database management (e.g. Votebuilder/VAN)

·   Knowledge and experience with project management techniques and principles.

·   Ability to multitask and work in stressful situations involving changing deadlines and expectations. Demonstrated leadership, communication and decision-making skills.

Demonstrated team building skills, both internal and external teams.

·   Knowledge of relevant partner agencies and systems.

·   Strong formal written ability, including ability to write a variety of documents for various audiences.

·   Strong public speaking skills, including ability to translate programmatic and/or technical documents for a variety of audiences.

·   Analytical and problem-solving skills.

·   Demonstrated experience in ensuring program compliance with contract policies, procedures, program/budget requirements, and regulations.

Salary & Benefits

·  Salary Range: $80-85K annually

·  Health, vision, and dental insurance are offered.

·  The Alliance offers a generous PTO package.

·  This position qualifies for enrollment in a 401(K) program.
