    Description

    The Technology Operations Coordinator (TOC) plays a pivotal role in facilitating and enhancing the efforts of all ABA departments through a variety of tools, both virtual and practical.

    The TOC, working under the Director of Technology, is instrumental in supporting staff, optimizing remote collaboration, and adeptly addressing concerns related to the organization's chosen technologies.

    This position does not require exhaustive knowledge of one or another particular piece of software or service so much as it requires a high level of interest in contemporary technology, an enthusiasm for discovery, and a problem solving mindset.

    Examples of responsibilities include:

    • Maintaining and developing integrations for campaign and event logistics with low-code tools like Make.com and Zapier.com
    • Supporting technology needs before and during the organization's in-person events, including packing and shipping hardware, hardware setup and maintenance on site, coordinating with staff and the on-site audiovisual and technical services
    • Maintaining and developing website tools and content management for BookWeb.org, IndieBound.org, handbook.bookweb.org, Indie Bestsellers, and other public- and industry-facing online content
    • Reviewing and sourcing tools to solve new or evolving staff or member needs
    • Coordinating efforts between inter-office departments, bookstore members of the ABA, the book industry, and third-party vendors

    Required Qualifications:

    • A four-year degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field.
    • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a pertinent role.
    • A keen interest in technology
    • A strong inclination for problem-solving across various disciplines
    • A desire to expand your capabilities
    • A thorough comfort and familiarity with modern operating systems, website architecture, database concepts, common contemporary online office and creative tools, and an eye for emerging technological solutions.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Proficiency in tools related to: Web Development and Content Management (Drupal, PHP), Data Analysis and Insights (Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager), Database Management (MySQL), File Transfer and Management (FTP), Workflow Automation and Integration (Make.com, Google App Script), CRM (CiviCRM), Project and Task Management (Monday.com), Office and Collaboration Tools (Google Workspace, Google Docs, Google Spreadsheets), Online Form Tools (JotForm), and Emerging Technologies (Generative AI tools).

    Location and Work Environment:

    • Remote Work
    • Travel required to attend twice a year ABA conferences (up to nine days at a time, two times a year) and occasional meetings and conferences. Travel expense reimbursement will occur in accordance with company policy and state law. (Upcoming scheduled travel includes Winter Institute 2025 in Denver, Colorado (approximately 2/19/25 - 2/27/25) and Children’s Institute 2025 in Portland, Oregon.
    • The candidate will be responsible for providing their own remote workspace and reliable high-speed internet connection. The ABA will provide hardware and software appropriate to the assigned duties.

    Employment Type:

    • Full-time, salaried position, non-exempt
    • Schedule: Generally, ABA works 8 am - 4 pm, 9 am - 5 pm, or 10 am - 6 pm ET unless negotiated with the supervisor. Work week is 35 - 37.5 hours. Occasional paid overtime at the manager's discretion.
