Description

Overview: 

The Development Associate supports the Development Director with fundraising efforts and maintaining stewardship of donors. The Development Associate is also integral in maintaining databases, assisting with soliciting new donors and holding lead organization positions for fundraising events. The individual must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and uphold the organization’s mission, vision, and values.

Responsibilities: 

Fundraising 

Sponsor a Horse Program Lead 

  • Maintain detailed record of existing horse sponsors and solicit their renewals annually 
  • Solicit new sponsors to meet annual fundraising goal 
  • Write quarterly communication emails or notes to horse sponsors to provide updates on their horse and general farm information 

Gift Processing 

  • Manage gift processing system, including processing gifts/entering information into database 
  • Updating and maintaining constituent records 
  • Producing timely acknowledgment letters for all gifts 
  • Drafting new acknowledgements on a quarterly basis 
  • Submitting and monitoring matching gift donations 

Grants Management 

  • Support Development Director and liaise with program team and accounting team in managing disbursement of and accounting for restricted grants 

Stewardship 

  • Ensure donors are recognized by 
  • Donor stewardship visits 
  • Writing projects 
  • Planning small events 
  • Contacting via phone or email 

Event Management 

Community 

  • Coordinate corporate, volunteer, and community-led fundraising efforts 
  • Attend events to accept donations 
  • Manage social media-based fundraisers 
  • Lead tours to groups (i.e., scout troops, or community organizations) 

Workday Liaison 

  • Serve as liaison from the Development team during Corporate Workdays 
  • Increase fundraising capacity through workdays 
  • Solicit new workdays 

Polo Classic 

  • Lead role in vendor management 
  • Booking/Scheduling vendors 
  • Managing vendor payments 
  • Day-of vendor coordination 
  • Lead role for Auction Coordination 
  • Organize and engage polo committee members 
  • Organize and engage volunteer committee members 
  • Engage Board Members, client families and staff 
  • Assist with day-of auction set-up and checkout 

Administration 

  • Manage donor database (Salsa) 
  • Maintain data integrity of donors 
  • Manage donor lists for mid-year and end of the year fundraising campaigns and work with printer/mailshop as needed on format, etc. to facilitate mailing and regularly update lists through National Change of Address (NCOA), etc. 

Other 

  • Other duties as assigned 

Required Skills: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate experience 
  • 1+ year experience planning events 
  • Proficient knowledge using Microsoft Office 
  • Strong interpersonal skills 
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal 
  • Excellent public speaking skills 
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • A passion for Cloverleaf’s mission and an eagerness to work with our multiple constituency groups 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently 
  • Adaptable and flexible in a busy environment 
  • A creative, giving spirit with a willingness to try new things and make changes as needed as part of a team effort to grow the organization 
  • Strong organizational and management skills 
  • Remains cognizant of and adheres to Cloverleaf’s policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to employment with Cloverleaf Equine Center 

Preferred Skills: 

  • Experience working with Salsa or similar donor database
