Political Associate

The Patriotic Millionaires is a group of Americans with annual incomes over $1 million who believe that the country's current level of economic inequality is both dangerous and immoral. The Patriotic Millionaires focus on a set of issues that best illustrate the disparity between legislation that serves the best interest of the majority of citizens and that which enriches the few. Members expressly support legislation that directly yields: a fairer tax system that includes greater tax obligations for millionaires and major corporations, higher incomes for wage earners, and less political influence for those whose sole credential is the ability to pay for it.

While primarily a DC based organization, this position will be located in the NYC office (currently remote) with the Political Director/ New York Regional Director and the Chair of the Patriotic Millionaires. Primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

• Working with Political Director on New York state policy work;
• Scheduling lobbying meetings for lead staff lobbyists;
• Bill research;
• Liaising with NY and Policy Working Group Patriotic Millionaires’ members;
• Maintaining coalition relationships and correspondence;
• Database management;
• Drafting biweekly newsletter to New York chapter members. 

Minimum qualifications: 2-3 years of professional experience. Prior work experience in policy environment, communications, and/or campaigns preferred.

• Ability to manage projects, timelines and deadlines;
• Ability to translate science and technical issues into general language for policy maker and general audiences;
• Ability to identify and analyze sources of information; conduct targeted research; develop evidence to be able to support positions; and summarize and synthesize findings into clear, concise communications materials;
• Ability to work in fast-paced environment;
• Willingness to be strong team player.
