Compensation: $41,000 - $58,000

Status: 100%, Full-Time,

Exempt, In-person

Organization

Summary: Via Care Community Health Center is a growing, non-profit federally-qualified health center (FQHC) located in the heart of East Los Angeles. With eleven sites serving more than 15,000 low-income individuals each year with primary medical, dental, behavioral health and supportive services programming, Via Care serves all community members regardless of their ability to pay and regardless of their health, insurance, immigration status, gender or sexual orientation.

Position

Summary: The Development Associate assists with fundraising, marketing/community outreach, and administration.  The Development Associate is a strong writer, and is an organized, positive individual with an entrepreneurial spirit who is comfortable working without supervision and as part of a team. The Development Associate will juggle a variety of duties, including writing grant proposals and donor correspondence, managing donor databases, representing Via Care at community outreach meetings, coordinating events and creating collateral materials and social media content.  As a part of a small but energetic team consisting of the Chief Development Officer, a contracted marketing consultant, and contracted grant writers, the Development Associate will have the opportunity for significant creativity and input and to make a real difference in the lives of low-income individuals and families in East L.A.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

Institutional Giving

·        Write grant proposals and reports

·        Research funding sources, including government and private foundation grants

·        Proofread proposals and prepare grant packages for submission to funders

·        Assist with foundation site visits

·        Manage grant database and calendar of submission and report deadlines

·        Write and send acknowledgement of grants to donor agencies

Marketing, Communications and Outreach

·        Assist with preparation and distribution of development materials including brochures, newsletters and other promotional items, including signage, flyers, website and social media content and miscellaneous donor correspondence 

·        Coordinate and promote the monthly foodbank

·        Coordinate annual National Health Center Week events every August

·        Participate in marketing team meetings

Create and Track Fundraising Events

·        Create and organize fundraising events and campaigns

·        Develop reports that describe the progress and effectiveness of each campaign

·        Assist with large donor events

Individual Giving

·        Draft and send acknowledgements of donations to donors

·        Assist updates for donors and annual giving campaign

·        Manage individual donor database

Administrative Support

·        Assist with Development Department calendar, including internal meetings, and external meetings with partnering agencies, private foundations, County, State, and government agencies. 

·        Register Development staff for conferences and trainings  

·        Execute grant due diligence and distribute award documents to appropriate departments 

·        Take minutes at board development committee meetings 

·        Organize and maintain Development files including contracts/agreements

·        Assist with federal, county and foundation audits as needed 

·        Provide day to day administrative and project support and manage special projects as assigned  

·        These duties may be modified based on the needs of the organization.  Position requires flexible hours,

including occasional late nights, holidays and weekends to meet deadlines

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS  

·        B.A. required

Master of Public Health or equivalent degree preferred

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

·        Two years non-profit administrative experience 

·        Fluency in Spanish

·        Interest in community health

SKILLS:  

·        Superior written, verbal and interpersonal skills

·        Ability to represent the organization with professionalism and integrity  professionalism

·        Strong attention to detail, ensuring that all communications, deliverables, and projects are accurate, professional, and audience-appropriate 

·        Excellent problem solving and organization 

·        Ability to prioritize workload/multiple requests based on own judgment of importance/need to the department 

·        Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (specifically MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel), G-Suite, Adobe, and all social media platforms

·        Exceptional time-management and organizational skills
